If I load a custom route onto a 660 then set off on the route travelling through a set waypoints along the way, come to a stop, for whatever reason, say half way along the route and the unit turns off with the ignition, when I restart does it try to take me back to the beginning? Or does it reload the route but remember I've passed through the 1st half of the waypoints?

You could answer the question yourself by just trying it. It should just carry on where it left off. Do you actually need all those waypoints? Waypoints are places you tell the device you must go through. If you miss one for whatever reason it will try and route you back to it. Use waypoints carefully and put in via points instead where possible. These tell the device you want to go that way but don't turn you back if you miss one. You can make a whole route with just start and end waypoints using just via points along the route. (except for circular routes-then you need a waypoint or two to make it work properly.)

When it switches on again - Instead of loading the route again - just go to "view Map" on the Home screen. It will pick up the "in progress" route.

Thanks all. Not sure how to add via points. I plan a route using Tyre and I set waypoints.

Edit - just looked at a loaded custom route and it states 17 via points under edit route.

Adding via points on the 660 is easy once you get into the rhythm......

I find the easiest way is to direct it to a point near the previous point, and to select the map function - then move the map with fingertip and add a point on the road you want to go via.

Just keep repeating this until you think you have a route stitched together. If any part needs tweaking - add an extra point there (to keep off the toll roads etc)

You can try using Basecamp or Mapsource instead. Adding via points (as opposed to waypoints) is then very easy.

Worst case just reload the route and it will ask you if you want to navigate to the start. Select No and it will work out where you are (obviously) and navigate to tge next waypoint from there

to add via points on the zumo unit.
To add a via point to a route:

Touch a destination
Touch Go
It may be required to allow the device to calculate to this destination before moving on to the next step
Touch the menu button or back arrow to return to the main menu
Touch Where To?
Locate and touch the desired Favorite, Point of Interest, Address, or Recently Found
Touch Add to Active Route or Add As a Via Point
Some devices will require you to select Done

Aren't they one and the same thing (in basecamp terms) ?

Thanks probably where I was going wrong.
