Been busy the last 2 days ! First cut the exhaust and removed the cat, then noticed that where the headers join the cylinder heads, just inside the exaust, there is a ring of welding all the way round, which reduces the bore of the pipe by about 7mm. Needless to say i fired up the internal grinder and smoothed this down. Next the inlet tube to feed the airbox, the end of which is far too small in my opinion, drilled 7 18mm holes to let in some air.

HUGE difference, loads more grunt, this is with the original silencer by the way. Lifts the front end EASY now. Nice induction roar and pipe is very slightly louder as well.

Total cost £0:D:thumb2

Going to get it on the dyno to make sure she aint running lean. Anyone know the price of a power commander ? Anyone know the RWHP of a stock 08 ?

My dealer advised me that the GS has to run fuel modification eg Power Commander or Techlusion unit when running with free flowing headers and a K&N or similar high flow filter. Without such it definitely runs too lean even with its own Lambda correction.

IIRC a PC3 USB is about £280 plus dyno fine tuning costs.

I would be getting a dyno run done ASAP if it were my bike, some horror stories about exhaust valves etc if you do a search.

Got a quote today £420 to supply and set up pc on dyno. Bonus is the dyno shop owner also has a GS1200 with similar mods to mine, recons he can get 10bhp with the mods and dyno work.
