cutting out

Now I know this is a Gs website but as my GS gives me no trouble I need for some opinion /advice regarding my 99xr250.
Any time I go through a puddle or through 1-2 ft of water she cuts out soon after and she re starts ok but is iffy for a while, now
would this be the plug lead, needing replacing or what?Im looking for any help advice you might have as its the wet season Im looking to cure this as soon as possible cause im getting flad out from kicking it .

XR 250..........

Take the Tank and Seat off ...............and check all the wiring under tank to make sure all connectors are connected and intact and clean under the tank to remove all the mud........

Check the plug cap...........it'll be one of those Honda integrated ones and if necessary put some clear silicone around the HT lead and cap.

Check the HT Lead to see if it's split.................and then where it enters Coil and if necessary seal with clear silicone.........

Also check the Kill Switch contacts and wiring

After all that ..............fit a rubber mud flap to the rear of front guard......................it's short and this should stop some of the crap and mud/water going up under the tank.................
