Hi,
I have just had some welding done on my 1100's RH cylinder head. I took the head off using Steptoe's guide, and left the right hand (exhaust) rocker assembly and all of the cam gubbins on the head.

When I picked the head up yesterday afternoon, the cam assembly and rockers had been removed and was wrapped up separately. So, I now have a cylinder head with just the valves on and a pile of bits. :blast

Can I just put it all back together and torque things up to the right value, or is it more complicated than that? I want to check before I start putting it all together this weekend.

Many thanks in advance for advice,

DA

I'm not particularly familiar with oilheads, in that I've never stripped one, but generally speaking, the most important thing is timing the camshaft relative to the crankshaft, last thing you want is piston(s) kissing valves :blast .
No doubt someone will be along to give more detail :thumb

It Lives!

As the title suggests, everything is back together, no bits left over and no nasty noises as piston meets valve.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who supplied answers to my newbie questions and to Steptoe for posting the 'How to remove a cylinder head' guide.:beerjug:

Also, big thanks to MotorWorks, who sent out a new head gasket and all of the sundry washers, for less than the cost of the gasket alone down here - advertising on this site did work. :thumb2
