I contacted Mark Hooton of Cymarc Bike Parts regarding ordering a set of Spot Light Protectors and a Rear Crud Catcher for my GS Adventure.
I’d heard good reports of his Front Crud Catcher, but it was the Rear Crud Catcher I was most interested in.
I was after something a little out of the ordinary, and enquired whether one could be made with a bespoke design to suit my personal requirements.
It was clear from the off that Mark was a bloke who takes great pride in what he produces, and even more pride in the fact bikers are going to put his products on their pride and joy.
He was very friendly, helpful, and really couldn’t do enough.
Over the next few days he personally got to work on my items, getting to grips with what I was after, and kept me informed at every step of the way of their manufacture, and they were done and despatched in no time. And he didn’t even rest easy until they were safely delivered.
The service is exceptional, personal, and really second to none.
It was going to be hard for the items to live up to the service…..
…but they did easily.
The Rear Crud Catcher was spot on.
I was particularly impressed with the high grade quality of the stainless steel. Not only is the Rear Catcher visually pleasing, it’s obvious it’ll actually do the job too. It’s sturdy, well made, and well designed. The R1200GSA logo gives it a classy finish, and the quality of the laser cut graphic is top notch.
Mark had taken the liberty of slightly altering the basic design drawing that I sent him, and the Catcher was much the better for it…it was obvious that he’d put some thought into what I’d asked him for, and designed a more practical version.
The Spot Light Protectors are of equal quality.
The grade of Stainless steel is impressive again, and the design sleek, practical, and robust…and although I doubt they’ll fully protect the spots from a fall..I doubt that there are any on the market that will..however they do look substantial and capable of a respectable level of protection, and are very far from a flimsy bit of bling. And again the finish is impressive, and the laser cut logo really adds a bit of class.
And despite all the help Mark had given me, and all the extra work and hassle I had caused him, he still offered me a very generous gesture for my custom. Totally unnecessary, totally unsolicited, and totally unexpected…but typical of his customer service.
I’d like to state I did not know Mark prior to my order, nor have any connections to his firm.
But I wish him every success with his products, and I’m happy to give him a shining review....as anyone who takes this much pride, personal attention, and attention to detail in what they do deserves to be praised. And the quality of the product, and the whole experience, makes it very easy to do so.
I think he gets far more satisfaction from a well received product, and an appreciative customer, and a complimentary response, than any monetary gain he makes from making them.
These are top quality items, and the quality of the materials, the design, and the quality of manufacture sets Touratech and even Wunderlich to shame.
Well done Mark…I’m sure I’ll be ordering from you again soon, and look forward to anything that you design in the future.
