Cymarc Screen Theft Brace

My KTM SAS screen was adjustable via a skewer type arrangement for the tilt angle, but the GS screen looks fixed, so once the 'forks' of the brace are aligned with the two M6 threads each side that's the only alignment I can see.

Why don't you ask the manufacturer? He is a member here.

my guess would be a yes its supposed to be like that, you really wouldnt want a metal bracket any where near that tft screen, god forbid it was too close and vibrated of the tft screen ,i wouldnt take long to fook it:thumb

Thx. Interested to see other installations.

I got mine to fit a lot closer to that, but it’s a push giving and then pinch up fasteners.
I have the screen brace so and it’s a tadge tight but should work OK

Received mine earlier this week, just awaiting the screen brace to arrive (later order) then I'll be mounting both at once - but I hope it mounts close than that. What's it like at the top, is the shade down across the screen?

The only other thing I'm wondering is how well mine might fit as I have a screen protector on it.....guess I'll find out when I come to fit the two together. @Wobble, I've seen similar comments to yours that its a tadge tight some am prepared for that.

Other parts I've had from Cymarc have all been good, so I'm hoping it will all fit well together

Are we really seeing TFT screen thefts??

Can't believe that they are getting nicked when biker mate is sat in a biker cafe and if it's when its parked outside it would easier to just nick the complete bike.

Where do you stop? anti theft seats, handlebars, mirrors FFS.

I agree. Would like to know how many have been stolen ?

Like all these products, we expect the main deterrent to be from the opportunist, snapping your screen off and selling for the price of a spliff.

I've not studied the install instructions, but assume it involves careful removal of panels etc.

The 'pro' thieves of these will not be careful, snapping panels and carrying the required tools for the job (a couple of torx?), so I do wonder if they offer any real protection at all.

One person on a facebook group apparently had his nicked.

Not seen any other reports.

I've seen a few reports of TFT screens being pinched and it does seem to be on the rise - usually seem to be from machines that are parked up all day every (work) day in the same place - public car parks (or public parking bays on the road) so the thieves know when the bike will be parked there and can plan accordingly, knowing they won't be disturbed. Seems to be mainly in the larger cities around the UK. There was some discussion on other forums as to the use, given the TFT screens are coded to individual machines, but the theory is that the coding has been cracked such that these can be retro fitted to non-TFT machines. Who knows.

To me it's like most things though, if you make it difficult for a thief, he'll (hopefully) move onto the next bike. These items just make it difficult to get the TFT screen and a £1,200 a pop to replace I can understand that. I must say personally I find it odd that BMW didn't make it a bit more of a secure fitting, even fixing the TFT with nuts and bolts rather than just 3 clips to make it a bit more difficult for any theft.

Latest talking point now on forums seems to be the signal being boosted on keyless ignition using cheap boosters off eBay - recent instance was guy paying for petrol saw his (keyless) GS1250 being ridden off the forecourt. Thieves had boosted the signal off the key in his pocket to start the bike - now everyone seems to be talking faraday pouches and putting on disc locks etc when you go to pay for your petrol.

So I was as careful as I could be to get this aligned and set up and that's the best I could get.

I couldn't bear to look at that misfit so it came off and I'll check with Cymarc, but if that's the best it gets it's got no place on my bike.

As for anti-theft, it's held on with x4 screws/nuts that are not security headed, so these can just be unscrewed too. theory is if there's vermin about they'll take the easiest, but with a couple of minutes and an allen key this brace is straight of..

Quick update in that Mark from Cymarc is on the case to help resolve. Hopefully something simple, but must say I'm very impressed with the instant assistance!!
