D23 Gorge Du Verdon , recovered photos,Point Sublime a Police Chase and time for Tea.

Recovered some of Julies photos I had erased BY ACCIDENT Mrs Brown. What a faff that was.

Run out on the Bikes to find the D23 and what a road.

We call in later at Point Sublime and the Pikeys have stolen the sign , Julie in bike gear and 36 deg C felt cheated that view was not better.

To make up for it I said we would go out for tea , my treat as it would have been my turn to cook. Two Chef`s on this trip and I didn’t want them to go all Masterchef Judge on my culinary efforts.
Beans on toast on a one ring burner.

As we depart the Bike Police come past, radio in to David , “come on lets tag along this will be a quick ride”!!! I managed 2 thrilling miles following two very experienced riders. Mind you Julie was on the back doing photos at this stage, so again on radio for David "go through and sic em."!!
He had a fantastic run. At the end about to enter Castellane they point very hard behind them for him to slow. One of the best rides for him on all the trip.

They sound the sirens on approach to tunnels and blind corners and use all the road where safe.

We walk in to Castellane and spy this hiding behind a gate.

The Happy Campers FINALLY say Goodbye.:augie

That's a hell of a day out from Sheffield Andrew, well done :bow

Nice

Lovely photos, and agree, once you've been round the route des cretes, the pint sublime isn't that sublime :-) Especially trudging around in that heat.

Cafe Gourmande looks lovely though:thumb

Great pics Andrew and write -up, as usual.....................next year I fancy Castellane and Verdon, it's an area I have yet to savour

Hope to meet franco too:thumb

Did the Gorge du Verdon this year and forgot about the Route des Cretes:(. Loved Castellane, ate and drank in a cafe on the square while watching the Germany / Italy game in the euros , great craic from the French v Germans in the cafe...:thumb2

Gorge du Verdon ain't a bad ride :-) and Castellane is a cool town, spent a few days there last year - drinking cold beer on warm summer evenings watching the pretty French girlies playng boules is a good way to end the day :D

Franco,

Worth the effort recovering them photos, there are many more but havent gone overboard this time. Do try out at that place when in Castellane, I`m sure you wont be disappointed. We are all very big on good food and value for money. Very reasonable prices and good food on two occasions. Helped make a good stay even better.:thumb2

Just come back from a week there, the weather was glorious, and the hill climb nr Munster was absolutely brilliant.

Lets hope the weather holds for you, enjoy.

Got back from France last week.

We were in Provence and did the gorge du Verdon - lovely.

Originally we were going to head from there to Lyon for a couple of foodie days, but the forecast was excellent so we decided to keep in the mountains.

Did a bit of route Napoleon then cut up to Geneva, diagonally across the Jura mountains and met up with a couple of friends in the Ardennes.

4 days of cloudless skies and light traffic - found some great campsites too.

Will try to post a few photos if I'm able.
