We’ve ended up with a good old UK North South divide.

4 x Northern Monkey

2 x Southern Shandy.

North detachment meets at mine today and overnights near Bishop Stortford, to RV with the southern detachment tomorrow en route to Dover………

What could possibly go wrong

Morning All

Apologies for my lateness.

A couple of late ish finishes.

Day 1.

Northern Monkey Detachment meet up at my place and head down towards Bishop Stortford.

Knowing we had 2 motorway days ahead we elected to go a nice route.

Coffee at Oakham then press on to hotel.

Nice place, basic but clean and good parking.

One of the locals kindly put on a driving stunt show for us, sadly ending prematurely.

Bed and ready to hit the ferry tomorrow, leaving to RV with Shandy section and then Dover.

All settled into the groove now, let the trip proper begin

You sure that Micra isn't a posh see-saw....when it rains, the kids in the front and back can see-saw to their hearts content and stay dry....
Enjoy the trip chaps.

Day 2.

So we all RV at the Royal British Legion complex cafe Maidstone.

As we are relatively early we head to Dover to chance our arm.

Booked 1810, hoping for 1600.

Roll down Jubilee Way and into check in a mere 4 hours early.

Nice lady says we can dive on the 1425, so that’s 4 hours of credit . (No charge, even though you’re only supposed to go one crossing early or late),

Essential this means that we will arrive in Brugge early evening and be able to have a mooch about.

Big thanks to DFDS, I always try to use them as their flexibility is great.

We get lucky and are only bikes on ferry so ride into our clamps, a nice surprise, no wrecked seats with straps etc.

On the check in ……. X

Queue - 5 Cars

Immigration - Passport only, even invited to leave helmet on.

No docs check, no biometrics, no nothing

Anyway, blast up to Brugge and due to GPS issues we elect to do a mini tour of the old town for 5 mins, before opening our wrought iron gates to parking and check in.

Wander into town and have food just off main square, some head to a bar for football, me being the most boring person I know heads back to the hotel for cocoa and medals.

Big day tomorrow, east to Soest, where the trip starts proper in my mind.

Will we need to break into our 4 hours of credit……….

Stay tuned. …….

I’d recommend The Hunters Meet Hotel Hatfield Heath, It’s basic but clean and a cracking breakfast, Decent parking too.
