Just been for service and they found big dent in front wheel rim (1200 GS cast wheel) that they reckon would cause it to fail MOT. There is no 'creasing' or marking of metal or paintwork - it looks more as though it has been 'pushed' in over 3 inches or so.
Not sure when or how it was done, presumably down to fantastic road quality round here as it has not been off-road while I have owned it (don't think it was there when I bought it , unless I am more unobservant than I thought! - having said that I hadn't noticed it when cleaning
)
Anyway, a few questions:
I guess it is not a great idea to take a hammer to it to try and straighten it?
How bad does it need to be to fail the MOT? and what problems might there be if I continue to run it as is?
If replacement is the only answer - where best to try and get secondhand wheel? (apart from 'wanteds' on here)(I am assuming new from dealer will be expensive!)
