I've just taken delivery of my 1150GSA from Johno.

I absolutely love it so far.

Just one question for some Steptoe-ish character-the 1150 has a Datatool alarm.

I hate alarms and have never had one before,on purpose.

For now,my 1150 has to live outside under a cover and I will leave the alarm set in "work' mode so it won't go off if touched or a gust of wind moves the cover etc.

But I can't really leave it plugged in a on a trickle charge all the time due to it's position, and am worried that the battery will go flat as the damn thing has a flashing light in the tail to show it has an alarm.

Will the alarm start to beep if the battery becomes flat and how easy is it to disable the alarm completely to stop any discharge ?

Martin, The best thing to do with it, as I have done before, is just to take it off. Start at the black box, follow each of the wires from it to the end and disconnect. Horrible things!

:agree

One of the first things I did when I had the 1150 GSA, just work through it slowly and take your time.

All the wires will be black as a security measure and some will be bridging circuits as part of the immobiliser feature so you'll need to rejoin the original wires, solder and heat shrink the joints rather than using crimps or the dreaded scotch locks. :(

Have fun :D

Oh bugger !!!

Don't even own a solder.

Looks like a job for Steptoe or someone.

OFF

Get it off,my bike was idetical to yours, had it garaged all winter, just went and started it once in a while, and it never killed the battery once.....but i got pissed off with it beeping everytime i parked it,moved it, just looked at it,so got my local bike shop to take it out, cost £50 squid.....:Motomartin

I've managed to secure a parking spot under a neighbour's carport with a power hook up so I can plug in my Optimate so I'll leave the alarm fitted for the time being and see how I get on with it.

just a thought if you take it to france and the alarm doesnt disarm in the motorway service station just push it about half a mile down the road :D as i did apparently the signal in the service station blocks the signal from your key fob

I agree that sometimes you can be left stranded if near a strong radio signal, was unable to switch mine off when parked at the top of a hill in the peak district. Took some time before I noticed the 100ft aerial pylon beside me and connect the two.

Datatool allows you to arm/disarm the unit by inputting a code by switching the ignition on off a number of times to replicate your chosen code. get your code sorted BEFORE you need it. There is a default code but check previuous owner to see if he has changed it. Better than pushing the bike half a mile!
