Hi all,

Strange one here :D the date on my GSA 2016 keeps resetting to 01/03/2000

Bike used regular, kept on trickle charger. Clock keeps its time etc so any ideas why the date keeps resetting? :nenau

I’ve googled it but it just throws up how to change/set the date.

Cheers

Fooks sake do not hit 88 mph while on that setting, or you'll have to do that last 19 years all over again.....

Your Nav device is in the cradle?

It is yes and that’s behaving odd. Recent refurb Nav5 and it won’t auto adjust day/night settings and drops satellites. Garmin advised master reset.

Do you think it’s to do with the nav? :nenau

If you dont have have a Nav unit fitted, then the most likley fault is the Kombi itself

The correct odometer readings will be intact, but the realtime ones (since last fill) will be lost, as well as day date time

Caused by a loss of power to the Kombi

One of the internal capacitors which acts as a battery to keep the volatile short term memory intact will either be leaking or fubarred

in the old days a good old electronics enginner would fault find, and remove / replace the defective individual component.

Nowdays one of there super technicians will just replace the faulty kombi completely.

Why spend 50 quid when you can get 500 ;)

And I thought it was going to be a thread about removing the batteries from a sex doll ;) :D

It’s BMW’s way of getting you to buy a new bike. They know you have lots of money, and are messing with your mind, remotely. :D

Yes I heard it’s a Nav 5 issue ! There is a software update due. The nav6 doesn’t have this issue .

Hi all,

I have reset the device as per Garmins instructions and no different :( the world clock app says 24/03/2000.

If I remove the device from the bike and reset the date it stays correct. As soon as I put Nav5 back on it goes back in time.

I guess looking at the linked thread this is quite common.

I'll give them another call but will try and unsync it so date on bike stays correct.

further update....

Garmin aware of issue and update being worked on.

Garmin product support requested the device xml file to be zipped and sent to them so I am now on their books for the update.

Yes. Your bike is configured to set the bike from the GPS. Nav V are broken right now. My Nav V thinks it's 24th March 2000. Garmin say they're on the case.
