Daunting repairs...

Sadly before I can start her up I'll have to sort out the alarm and the throttle cable.
I think my next step will be to get the tank off and follow Mike O's thread/blog.
I fear Christmas will take precedence - we'll see
But I will try and get her in a higher gear though I suspect the clutch cable has gone the way of the throttle cable:(
Cheers all

Any news TaDa? Got anything done over the break?

I'm going to be stopping at the Riverside camp site in Plymouth in Feb. if you're still stuck I may be glad of something to do of an evening or two! I,ll be there for about 2 weeks!

PM me if interested.

The clutch is hydraulic, it doesn't have a cable. After so long without use the friction plate will be stuck to the flywheel and pressure plate. It doesn't matter at this stage. Make sure that the bike is in neutral and on the centre stand.

Fit earplugs.

Connect bike to car battery with jumpleads.

Switch off alarm with fob or manual over-ride.

Find alarm removal instructions and throw the entire pile of useless crap in the electronics recycling bin.

Protect jumplead connections from shorting on bike/tank.

Temporarily re-fit tank, make sure that there is no corrosion on the wiring plug under the right rear of the tank

Try starting the bike.

If it starts run it for a minute on the fast idle.

Switch off. Dance about, grin inanely. Report back to UKGSer for stage two.

Bite sized bits are less intimidating:)
