Guts if anyone is thinking of doing this I'm currently staying in the lake district and tried to drive to Ulverston sling the A590 today heading towards Newby Bridge there was absolute carnage there back up for miles. Not sure what was going on.
I'd suggest another route, you can go through Grange over Sands towards Holker Hall and hit A590 at Haverthwaite but I'm not sure you may miss what's going on. Or make a ride of it and come down the side of Coniston Lake.
