There is a feature in the current edition of Adventure Bike Rider magazine. I haven't read it yet but it might be of some use.

Post up a report when you are back.

Enjoy.

I wouldn't bother with Sterling, the exchange rate is shit !! :D:D. keep to the west side . you could easily do The Dukes Pass , up through Glencoe , round the Kinlochleven loop road back down to Oban , round Lochgilphead , Inveraray and back in time for tea . :thumb

If the oportunit arises do not miss out on the A816 out of Oban it is a fantastic road !!!

did think about glencoe, but thought it might be a bit of a push to get back
but there is a sailing at 23.30 so could probably make it with loads of time to stop.
there is an earlier sailing back at 19.30

go for the 23:30 and make a day of it :thumb:thumb

I actually like getting the 03:30 sailing coming back on the 19:30 boat. I can get my head down for a couple of hours sailing over and then on the road for near 06:00. Helps make the most of it without getting the 23:30 home.

Was over last Saturday and done up to glencoe and round to Oban etc and back too boat. Am over on 15 th June also. Hard to beat for the money. I Try and do a day trip every month if possible. Although went to Edinburugh bike show on march and it was Baltic and snowy. It's a good run threw Galloway forest and up dalveen pass to wanlockhead etc if not wanting too big a days riding

Aye really good. Love it over there. Spend more time over there biking than at home. Magic. Plenty good roads around borders without heading too highlands all the time

Stenaline website. Click on day trips. Then click on the bottom motorbike one that's say 25£ rider and pillion. But once in there it's only 15 for bike and rider. Sorri for not getting link. Bit computer illerate this end.
15 pound is only on selected dates but its most weekends apart from in July and August. It's 25 pound any day of the year anytime.

cheers :beerjug: I'm just a bit lazy this end :augie:augie

When I check from my end here as if I was coming over from Scotland it's 25 pound. They mustn't do 15 pound deal from Scotland to Ireland on day trip

25 is ok. Done a pile of them last year and then this year it's down to 15 pound from Belfast to cairnryan and its £8.40 from Dunoon to gourock one way. Makes it look very expensive
