New f800gs 2024. Handbook shows left hand multi switch has button for toggling drl off (when entering tunnel etc). Button not fitted to mine. I have auto drl feature (set in settings). How do you (if you can) quickly switch on dipped headlight when riding in daylight without using tft settings to turn off ( takes too long)?

Does the following thread help, at all?

Thank you Kitsilano. I had seen the thread. on my bike it’s a design feature that I believe is common in USA. I wondered if I’m supposed to be able to switch on dimmed headlight easily without the faff of going through settings while riding. It’s not something I’d do often but the other day I was riding in fog but the light was bright enough to keep the daytime running lights on. Unfortunately the rider manual supplied with my bike shows a toggle button on the switch but it’s not fitted to mine so I guess the manual hasn’t caught up with the newer bikes.

Whilst not certain, as my RS has the toggle button (1) for DRL, I think the answer when only Auto DRL is available is to flick main beam on, which extinguishes the DRL, then dip the headlight - the DRL should then stay off until the next off/on cycle of the ignition. Worth a try?

Thanks squibb34. I’ve tried your suggestion over the last few days but unfortunately it didn’t work for my bike. It’s due a visit to the dealer this week and I’ve asked them to look into it. I’ll report back on here when I have their response. At the end of the day I’m sure the auto feature will be faultless in use but I can’t get my head around not being able to switch on dipped lights when I want. Cheers.

BMW have now uploaded the correct manual (F800 GS 2024 onwards). and drl is only auto no separate switch. To switch it off - stop bike and do it from settings. At least I now know👍.
