Daytona Boot Repairs

Shouldn’t be any duty to pay shirley? :nenau They aren’t new boots they’ve just been sent for repair.
Hope so. I’ve had a DHL message, I guess it says they’re on there way, but it’s all in german. We’re not home till monday, so I’ll either arrive and find them waiting, or I’ll find a tax demand I guess.
Has anyone actually had a pair of daytonas resoled at the reading cobbler? Be interested to see the result, and the Altberg ones. Surprised they were prepared to do it, we got a huge brush off from them when we popped in to see if they could do anything for the wifes tiny feet (size2). We were very unimpressed with them, to the point I’d never bother ever again. Rude….ignorant wankers AFAIC

I imagine a Goretex liner replacement would be expensive as it probably requires rebuilding the whole boot. I would consider buying a new pair.
From reading others comments on here, the general feeling is they tend to disassemble the boot to carry out the repairs anyway. What I don’t understand is that all my Roadstars have been exactly the same except for the pattern on the sole. It looks like they redesign the pattern to act as a date stamp. But other than that they’re identical to each other and to the current new boots still available. So why would they only offer to renew a leaky lining up to a certain age?
I’ll be sending my newer pair as soon as I’m back and will probably just ask for the linings to be done regardless.

The problem with Alt-berg is that they only have one guy who does the custom made boots, and he's spent a lot of time in hospital over the last few years.
It took nearly 2 years to get my boots finished

I’ve still not sent mine back for repair! :blast :D

If it assists anyone, the latest on getting Daytona boots repaired etc. This was as a result of going to The Adventure Bike Shop in Sudbury yesterday. They emailed Trans am and got the following reply, whilst I was there:

'Please be aware that Daytona are shut for summer shutdown and be open 1st week in September, we still have ongoing issue with the Brexit fallout and Daytona returns can take up to 12 weeks from date we send, so please remember that.

I can also recommend The Boot Repair Company who do an excellent job of resoling Daytona’s for £65 and are done within 7 days

https://bootrepaircompany.co.uk/products/motorcycle-boot-resole

For Daytona repairs I have to quote for liners as well as these can split when removing the sole.

Soles and liners £250 plus VAT

Soles Only £121 plus VAT

Kind Regards

At £250 plus vat (£300 in total) you might as well buy a new pair of Roadstars at £419, all in
Mine will be going in the bin

As stated in my earlier posts, this is why I went direct to the factory. Tranam and the UK retailer will add their mark up to the repair cost. Always deal direct with the factory in Germany using the guidance elsewhere in this thread. The factory will just change the soles for you if the liner is sound, as with my repair costing around £60 plus another £25-30 for the shipping so under £90 all in (2019 prices).

Tranam are notorious for being robbing bastards and the condition of changing the liners is their decision, not from the factory.

Absolutely. And of course it’s not really in their interest to repair old boots
Oh and I posted my boots the day before I set off on holiday, on the 13th, they could be home before me by monday. So Tranams predicted turnaround is again deliberately pessamistic, although yes the factory is on holiday from the first.

Or if you want to buy a new pair, motocentral will sell a pair of Daytona roadstar boots for £352 with the ukgser discount code!

We got home from Scotland last night, while driving back I got a message saying ParcelFarce would deliver 9-10am. As we weren’t going to be there I used their options to change delivery to today, but of course it didn’t get to their driver, or he ignored it, and they then sent a failed delivery note. But a few mins ago theres‘s a knock at the door and my boots are home.

Looking very shiny. But was very surprised to see the soles….

Are still the old bobbly design, which tbh I always found gripped better than the newer ones. I may even ask if they can fit this style to my newer pair when I send them. Need a nice wet rainy ride to test them out and see if I need to wear waterproof socks in future.

Nice! I’m guessing there was no import tax or whatever to pay?
Ive just looked in that link and it says to send them through the dealer? Is that what you did or just went direct?

I had a leaky lining on mine. They got me to send them to them. They deemed them leaky but just sent me a bank transfer, after sending them to gore tex for inspection. Happy days

They’re closed atm, back to work Monday 28th. I’d hold on till maybe Friday 26th so they arrive 28/29th when they’ll be there to recieve them. That’s what I’m doing with my second pair.
