I recently had the gearchange pad come partially unstuck on my left hand Roadstar GTX boot. A not-infrequent occurrence considering the useage and the fact that the boots are over 20 years old, and are the ‘Triggers broom’ of my bike kit, having has 2 sets of soles and 2 pads in the past.
I tried a local cobbler who made a huge mess with superglue, which of course cracked up and fell off, it being a very brittle hard adhesive,
So aware that things are now different after Brexit I phoned Tran-Am and were told to deal with The Boot Repair Company who will repair/replace/mend whatever bits are necessary my Daytona’s.

So off they went, and less than a week later back they came. TBH I’m not wild about the look of the pads but they’ll hopefully do the job.

Total cost about £83 inc P&P both ways, not an insignificant amount but a whole lot less that £400!

Thanks for posting that, I have exactly the same issue. As you say, I'm not wild about the look of the Boot Repair Company stick-ons, but a local cobbler (pretty good chap) was sceptical that anything would stick. His only advice was to send them back to Daytona.

I could be wrong but I understand that the Customs charges/red tape/paperwork is enough to make Daytona shy off of dealing with the UK, so I emailed Daytona to see if I could buy a set of pads, which elicited absolutely no response at all.

If these work I’ll live with them, at 75 I suspect they’ll see me out!

I took mine to Hideout Leathers who sent them back to Daytona for a repair. They used exactly the same pads as the originals. The only thing they could not guarantee was the Goretex lining as I didn't want that replaced. Similar cost.

Same issue with mine, emailed Daytona, they offered to replace, but they said it would be a stick on replacement, not sown. This was last year, I just put some leather glue on the edge of the pad and it has held up to now. You would think by now Daytona might but a longer pad on that went down more towards the sole.

Don't like the look of that :)

Whilst I suspect Hideout will have the same economic issue now, post Brexit, it must be worth sounding out Kate Jennings in the hope of a more elegant solution, if your boots are affected similarly. The original Daytona pads must be cheap as chips in reality, if someone in the trade can spring a few pairs from the Fatherland.

Recently happened to both pairs of my Daytona boots.
One set is now in the rubbish bin.

Other set I unpicked the stitching. Wondering what to do next.

Maybe you could get them repaired by Altberg. In the past I had a pair of Road stars re soled by them with one of their soles. They did a good job at a fair price.

I have exactly the same issue on a pair of my Daytonas. When I went to see about sending them back, between the postage back & forth and the repair, I figured I might just as well buy a new pair :blush
I'll see if I can get something done locally but proper cobblers are few & far between these days...

I concluded the same and went back to Altbergs rather than try and get Daytonas repaired. Equally good in my opinion anyway.

Yes, that was exactly the same conclusion I got to;still holding onto my original pair in the forelorn hope that one day the regulatory burdens imposed by Brexit will reduce....

Just as a final note, it’s now 3 months since I had the gearchange pads done. They’ve stayed secure with no sign of coming unstuck, and that’s all I needed.

Both mine fell off.

After suffering previous bullshit from Daytona, I just left them as they were. They still look better than that stick on abomination above.
