I am about to try my bike without the baffle (db eater) out. Is this liable cause any problems for the fuelling? Never had any problems with my carb bikes or my fireblade so don't expect any with the GS , but better to ask first!

dont know about the effect on fueling, but I do know it'll send you deaf
I doubt it it still has the standard headers. To be honest I really love the GS after a string of Jap sport bikes but the exhaust note of this bike has got to be one of the most insipid I have heard! Reminds me a bit of an old 250 Honda super dream a total lack of presence I would say, just my opinion though. I know a lot of bike owners like their bikes quiet and unassuming while others like them loud and proud eg. The Ducati, MV and Laverda owners I have to admit I am in the loud catagory I hate that wet fart exhaust note and want a deeper crisper note. Mind you I do think a lot of it is down to the valve timing on Italian bike they get the exhaust valves open a bit sooner than most other makes.

I'm on my second GS, the first had a full remus system on it, I took the baffle out thinking how well it sounded, did my usual Sunday run out and came back with my ears ringing and that was with ear plugs, and so it went straight back in. My current bike has remus headers and an Akropovic can, and its just about bearable. They sound great de catted and without baffles, but you ride the thing for a couple of hours and you will soon be looking to quieten it down again .![]()
in fact after a 4 hr run the other day all I could hear was wind noise. Anyway the thing is out now and hey presto...... can hardly hear it behind a sheet of newspaper! Mind you unlike a Duc the old bill won't hear me coming
I have de-catted headers and Akrapovic can on my '08 GSA. I have adjusted fueling to suit (belt and braces style but I believe it works) but I found without the baffle that the engine would keep stalling at low revs. Put the baffle in and the stalling stops so I can only think that a certain amount of back pressure is needed for the engine to run sweetly.
Also find that with the standard headers and the baffle out of my Beowulf it can stall. How did you adjust the fuelling? Was it done by Hilltop? If so did that not sort the stalling?

I found the noise great for short distances but a real pain for anythihng over 50 miles so the baffle stays in. With decatted headers even with the standard can the noise is improved to near what a bike should sound like so thats another option.

Are you taking the baffle out of an aftermarket exhaust or out of the original exhaust? if the later, how are you doing that, I thought is very difficult to do?
... and dB is not a linear measurement. In lay-mans terms volume doubles with every 3 dB increase.Removing it from a BOS carbon slip-on. Makes very little difference to the sound pressure, 4bd more than with it in.

An increase of 3db is double so it will be over twice the sound level.
How ever the starting bd level is low and while I agree you have doubled the sound pressure the perceived increase in sound is not that great. Putting some perspective on it motogp allows race machines to have a sound pressure of 130db at 5500 rpm! My bike is 88 db and by comparison working back for that level almost silent
