DCT problem?

My 2015 CRF250 is great and the switches feel of a much higher quality than those on my GS. What frustrates me is BMW must know the switches they use are shit because I've had several replaced on many BMW bikes I've owned since 2009 and I've known of others that have had the same issues. Because of this, + all the hassle and warrantee claim costs associated with it, why don't they change the supplier or the specification of the switches they use? Whilst I appreciate costs come into it, surely it must cost them more in changing so many together with loss of reputation.

:beerjug: They look twatty but do the job.

Standard KTM spokes are also renowned for rusting and I think the early GS ones too before they went stainless, life's too short to polish spokes:D

Ill agree on all counts Ive bought a set in black as well albeit I dont ride in the rain only if im caught out in it, the 690 Enduro is ridden in all kinds of shite so ill use them for the first set that goes manky

spoke guards

Dont know what every ones plans are if spokes are a problem, but if you put the spoke guards on I think it would invalidate warranty----that is if you were going to get honda to change. I know from ktm experience. If mine go rusty I would want Honda to sort it.

There's a guy that rebuilds my wheels on my other bikes it's about £200 for the two wheels I think I would be looking having them respoked with extra strong and better quality spokes or go down the road and have a second set of wheels, paying £12000 another £500 would be well worth it to use off road.

seriously? why would you pay to cover up a problem? if there is an issue then the manufacturer is best placed to sort it out.

Yep, rusty/discoloured spoke here too. From personal experience I thought it was only KTMs that suffered, apparently not. I've ridden around 400 miles, the bike has been thoroughly power-washed and leaf blower blown dry and ACF50 applied. I will draw the dealers attention to the issue when it goes for its first service. Otherwise I like my AT, it is good value and in that aspect beats anything around.

What's the chances of it happening again when they replace, I do understand that if as many complain then they have to do something, or do they,
I like the twin and I will be having one next year when they have sorted the few niggles out

Strange isn't it that expensive bikes of various makes are getting rusty spokes when an old bicycle, bought from Halfords years ago for bugger all money, has spokes that have no rust at all.

You would have thought that Honda of all people would have got something a s basic as this correct - if they can't even make decent spokes it makes you wonder of what else they have cut back on.

My Yam Super10's spokes went black after a few hundred miles and after telling the dealer he said they would get Yam to replace, I said what happens when they go again, said they would replace while under warranty. When I took it in (with a full set of Hagon s/s spokes) they said Yamaha have now said will only replace once during warranty which soured my view of Yamaha somewhat.

As said why they cannot produce a spoke that does not corrode is beyond me :nenau

Years ago one of the mags sent a few caliper bolts from various bikes to a uni to stick in a salt bath experiment to see whose finish would resist salt best. Triumph won hands down as there's was high end stainless, Honda 2nd as they had a super coating , the rest just corroded more or less the same. Maybe Honda have cut a few corners recently :nenau

I have a thing about corrosion and am trying some new products, so before I went away I coated 6 iron nails in various products and left them in a salt bath while I was away. Interesting results :augie
