I was on my way home today, and suddenly the bike died, like literally. The instruments flashed a few times and I could start it again.

Then 10 minutes later it did it again (luckily in the Garage) , and this time it looked like it was a gonner, but after 2 - 3 minutes where I just left it came back to life, and ran for 3 minutes before I switched it off.

Anyone had that one before? - I need to have it into service anyway (70kkm), but it would be nice to know what is going on....

Check that all cable connections onto the Battery are good and that the '-ve' (ground) from battery to frame is good.
Then perhaps think about the key switch, and...

Work methodically and carefully! Good luck.

+1 - My money is on it being battery related.

Another +1 for battery, although when my hall sensor failed it did something similar.

You should be able to tell from the instruments though. With the hall sensor everything else still works OK but the bike just won't fire. With battery problems everything will either be on or off!

It was recovered this morning, it was fine, but as I don't trust these things I felt it would better to call and get it shipped off to the dealer.

And then when the recover truck came, it was utterly dead again.... I check the battery terminals - they where fine. I guess I'll get it back at the end of the week.

I'm just happy that it's still under warranty.

Ignition switch.

There are a few reports of failures

The shop said the same this morning when I called them - will be interesting to know - first major issue with the bike.

I should get it back later this week - they also doing a service on it while it's there.

Thanks.

It's a show stopper but not really a major issue, at least compared to something like FD failure, as long as you're not in the middle of Africa that is.

Hope you're sorted soon

Sorted:D, it was a wire somewhere in the loom which was at fault - don't know exactly where....

Now I just need to get back to them and have the microswitch at the clutch fixed (again) so that I can start it while it's in gear.... can't be bothered right now, and it run...
