Once installed do I need to do anything else for it to work? I've heard mention of opening the throttle fully with ignition on or Zumat r'other to get the ECU to reset? Is that right?
Thansk in advance :thumb

I think you need to switch on the ignition and then fully open and close the throttle 2 times. Switch the ignition off again and she'll be ready to roll when you switch her back on.....hopefully. Did your dealer explain what the cat code plug does and why your bike needed one or a different one? Did he sound like he knew what he was talking about or just reiterating something he heard from a friend of a friend?

I wonder if we'll ever get to the truth behind CCP's before the next millenium? :D

they're to set each bike to it's own ( i.e.BMW's) operating parameters .

Which you can then adjust to suit your own needs

Just said it was an update? Doesn't currently have a plug at all and runs fine. Thought I would give it a try and see what happens.
Thanks for the explanation :thumb

I know i've posted this picture a few times - but this is the inside of a CCP plug -

Highly technical. Not to be tampered with

Yep, which is done in the factory and explains why some bikes have them and some don't(maybe). A new CCP as an update sounds strange. An update that does what exactly? How does the dealer know you're bike needs one, or is he saying that all bikes without them should go and get one? What colour is it and what pins does it bridge? Do you have a y-piece and/or non standard end can?

Don't know why I'm asking, we've been through this a thousand times before and never got any definitive answers about the different pin connections, what does what and why etc. The dealers explanation sums it up really. :nenau

It's identical to the one above except it's a '++0113'. Dealer just gave it to me when I took it in for some new boots about a year & a half ago and I fitted it straight away, not  Said it was flagged up on the history log for my bike. Never got round to fitting it as it's already fine! Maybe I should listen to my alter ego "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" Then again "What IF" :D
Got Y piece & standard can. Back fires very loudly which I'm starting to get pissed off with. Guess that's why I thought I'd try the plug..............
