Dealer rant

I have owned my GS for 13 years, I also have some BMW clothing, and in that time I have moved a few times so have visited many different BMW dealers on quite a few occasions (Surrey, Hampshire, South London, Manchester, Grimsby and today Derby - don't get me started on Derby).

Why are nearly everyone that works in these shops unhelpful, monosyllabic and generally too cool for school. I can honestly say that I have always received terrible customer service from all these establishments and I have bought, or tried to buy, something from all of them.

It is such a difference from my wife's dealer (Yamaha + Triumph) who are helpful and friendly. Oh and any time we've been into a motorbike shop in France - even BMW - what a difference.

I got mine from Southport Superbikes and I don't think they could of been more helpful. Even when I changed my mind after going to the CN bike show and being advised to buy the GSA instead of the GS they just said come in and test ride them both it's not a problem.
The best bike dealership I have been to by a long way

I find most shops are pretty helpful at taking money and normally the difference between the good and the bad is the aftersales service.

I find them expensive and unwilling to do deals, but I think this is a BMW thing, never found them rude or unhelpful - unless by unhelpful you mean expensive and unwilling to do deals.

They are also very good with Demo's, or at least when i was shopping for a GS I think every dealer I spoke to offered a GS demo bike.

GSPOD, I'll give a thumbs up to the guys at Adventurebikewarehouse. Enthusiastic riders themselves, rather than the career sales people you often get. It's their business and passion... and it shows.
Steve even knows two syllables and can link them together

You need to take a trip out to John Clark Tayside, good service, good coffee and the roads and scenery are of a better standard too..............well once the snow has gone anyway !

I keep going because I like BMW stuff and it's where it is sold. I like to see, try on, touch etc so I don't like buying from the internet + I want shops in my life.

I'm over in Manchester now and again so will take a trip to Adventure Bike
