Dealership opening Cardiff Jan 09

Cardiff BMW

Popped in to Cardiff BMW on Saturday with my mate, very impressive.

Had a full breakfast each, very nice but bloody expensive.

As their first customer in the breakdown department have to say very good, phone calls to keep me informed and a cup of coffee when I picked it up.

Hmm My 08 GSA needs a 12000 and Annual very soon and I asked them for a quote which really surprised me as it was less than I was expecting at £215 inclusive of parts, labour and VAT!! Of course if anything outside the scheduale needs attension then that would be extra. But am concerned that the service department might be lacking the expertise that is built up over many years but then your remarks are promising. Bristol ball park figure was £250 with the added journey back and forth. Hmm what to do:blast

Yes Mike is defo the EXPERT but quoted £235 so really not much differance and the bike is still in Warrenty and yes I know you don't have to go to a dealership just because it's in warrenty as long as it's serviced as per scheduale and genuine parts are used which Mike does but IMHO a dealer stamp makes a differance when a warrenty claim is in order and to date I have had three. New left disc (warpped) Tyre valve (RDS Leaking) and R/H switch gear as starter button disapeared.
Just my thoghts:beerjug::beerjug:

They seemed pretty switched on, if it was me I'd give them a go

Well, they nicked a pretty good mechanic (sorry technician:augie) from Bristol Motorrad. so i'd give them a try if i was local.

oh, sorry, thought it was the newbies lack of experience that was your main concern....not the warranty....so you will let them loose on your bike depsite this worry just so they can fix it when it goes wrong under warranty????

lets get real here.....mike has the experience and the warranty will cover you as he is careful only to use the right "bits".....and he had the guts to set up when the last lot of bwm to try and make a go of it in cardiff baled....his work as you will see from all the comments on the board is excellent, so why not support him??

(go on, biking is a risky business, take a chance:augie)

PLus1:thumb Great service from one of the most experienced BMW trained technicians in GB. Not only that he's a great guy, and the tea/coffee is free. As has previously been posted it's a no brainer.

Yes lets get real. I have used Mike many times to service my R1100s that I had before the GSA. I also use him for tyres and have sent many of my fellow BM riders in work etc to him. As you are spot on when you say he is a great guy and top notch when it comes to his work. But IMHO I would prefere a main dealer stamp in my book whilst it is in the warrenty period. That's my prefered choice it does not have to be yours. I will certainly consider taking it to Mike at a later date unless off course I take out the extended warrenty which I belive states it must be done by a main BMW dealer:beerjug:

Spot on Ringmaster - yes Mike's a great bloke and offers a great service and I'd use him if I wanted work done on an older bike BUT my bike's still under warranty and has a couple of outstanding factory recalls so I'm glad we've now got a main dealer in South Wales. I don't think it's helpful to suggest that the servicing will be below par either - lets wait and see. My bike will be going there soon so I'll report back.

Mines booked in for a 12000 and annual on May 8th:):)

BTW they are unable to do warranty work for around another month as they dont have the computer setup connected to BMW (or something like that). They could do the physical work just not record it with BMW atm.

Thankfully both our issues can wait a month :)

Not quite true,as I understand it, Rydale were taken over by Sytner and Sytner felt there was a better profit to be had in cars than bikes-added to which Sytners had no 1st hand experience in bike sales so they binned it ;)

As has been said many, many times before there is room for a main dealer and a specialist independent in South Wales,I intend to use Rider's and Mike's services in the near future :thumb2

New Dealership

Due to need for warranty work on bike(K1200s)plus 6000mile service and annual service as well as other bits and bobs to be done, booked bike into Riders.

Excellent service as I would expect, the bill? was £149.51p which I am more than happy with compared to other prices I had been quoted by other people.

There will always be a need for franchised dealers and idependants

tyddewi can you confirm please that you had warranty work done today by Riders?!
If so im gonna punch some lying **** in the face in Riders:(
