What is it with these unreliable rusting ditch pumps! I just can't see why people pay over the odds for them. At least with a BMW you are unlikely to suffer rusting humiliation even if they are expensive !

Fab the way he has made it look like a Kawa Drifter even has GT750 shocks!
Well, I thought it looks quite nice as well. A little more understated than your average chrome tinsel barge and more usable. Oh, and the shocks look like stock Road King shocks.
Oh, one more thing – Ymfb – A) have you ever owned a Harley made from about 1990 onwards? B) do you own a modern BMW and have you had it long? Just curious!

The Al Capone
on the face of it doesn't look like a massive change from a stock RKC. Remove the spot lamps and bags, fit a fat boy front fender, remove rear crash bar bag mounts and black powder coat the chrome. Could have done a lot more with rear end in terms of getting rid of the clutter, loads of kit out there do do it properly. Dont mind the black and white though.
only question, why buy a bagger and take the bags off Softails or Dynas look so much better.

Hows the F800GS holding up ?.
Hi,
I have never owned a Harley but have friends that do so I am fully aware of the pros and cons.
I have had three BMW's a Funduro, F800GS & K1300S. The Funduro and F800GS no problems at all, the K has had one recall before i collected it from NOG (new) one done during a service and one when the starter failed. They have just changed the LH switch gear under warranty, not bad considering the bikes done 12,000 miles and is nearly three years old.
No sign of rust anywhere including the 1994 Funduro !
My friend with a three YO 883 Sportster with 3500 miles on is re-painting the tin wear !
No problems with F800 GS, great fun bike using it to commute and do charity work in all weathers
I have never owned a F800GS, K1300S or a funduro. But i know about plenty that have had more problems than my 20 year old Harley.
But i keep an open mind rather than form an opinion based on what others tell me. And i've more than 30 years of continous bmw ownership to ponder over the robustness of BMW's

It's just that most people with a similar view are also the ones who have never owned one and are judging the reliability on bikes that are early 80's and before. I could start going into resale value and loads of other really tedious 'my bike's better than yours' silly arguments, but it aint and I won't. Enjoy your bike, whatever you ride! (keep an eye out for the corrosion though, can be a bit of a bugger on modern BMW's

Obviously there will always be winners and losers and the way you form an opinion is based on your own experience as well as your friends. TBF a Harley is unsuitable for my needs, my friend with the rusty one had always aspired to having one. He is going back to something Japanese.
Having owned numerous bikes of various marques in my 32 year riding life including a so called unreliable Ducati I know what I like. If money was no object I would chop the K1300S for a Panigale
I always wave, even to barrow boy scooter riders.

I will, ACF 50 will be my saviour, it even works on Ducatis.
I think it's good to have banter and I always have a laugh and a joke with other bikers.
