Death of a GS

14 Pages of Bike sympathy and Arguing over Why it Crashed.

Then someone thinks about the poor bloke riding it (he's probably still laying in the ditch).

Classic Bikers. :D

Get well soon chap :thumb2

Nooo the classic biker bit was once we had established he was alive the other GS owners were scrounging bits off the bike ! comments like you wont be needing this anymore were repeated many times

Fucking Vultures..........

Is there anything left, PM me :beerjug:

I am getting hung up on this as he is my mate and it was a trip i had begged him to come on as the "Picos is brilliant" in a way i feel a bit responsible

If it helps I think you are entirely to blame :thumb2 and where is that dopey bear with the sandwiches

And Giles
He is supremely qualified for this
Bike copper and used to looking at blurry images

I think he has had a relapse and is crying in the corner as you've stirred up memories of when he chucked Cato down the road :comfort :D

Cross referencing with Google Streetview I now can't see anything wrong with the line taken by the rider, so it's a mystery.

I will reserve comment until I've seen the video ... (at work at mo and vid doesn't play on my phone ..!)

I was glad to hear right at the beginning of this thread that the rider was fine, and I wouldn't have dreamed of speculating on the cause otherwise.

Don't be such a heart bleeding wimp. You clearly had plenty to say and a pressing desire to share.

PS Very disappointed that in your many (very reluctant) words, there is not one mention of the giant bat.

I was thinking the very same, and also: "I still stand by my earlier analysis........" WTF?

Al

I've no idea either though having looked at it several times it appears he banked the bike over further just before the rear let go? what suspension settings was it on, could this have affected the outcome? Maybe he was in too high a gear? was he riding on a trailing throttle before traction loss so loading the front and either a change in lean angle and/or a change of throttle was the bit that caused the rear tyre to let go?

Giles will know:rob

Main thing is your mate's ok

Well I take it back after further analysis, so it remains a mystery. At first I thought the rider had turned in too early, but I was mistaking landmarks on google Streetview compared with the video.

Would this be the same giant bat that completely obscured what would have been a cracking piece of video taken by me in Wales last year?

That is interesting - looks like the apex is a bit deceptive but not as bad as it looked on the photos.

One thing I have noticed is that at the previous left hander there seems to be something hanging down between the wheels - can be seen between 11 and 12 seconds in the full video or you can see it here: https://youtu.be/mqF81U9M-J4?t=11 Also seems to be slightly more to the right hand side of the bike, so maybe grounded on the right hander? Can't think what it could be though - any aftermarket headers or exhaust components on the bike?

It's a Yoshi, if I am correct.
