Definitive Handguard improvement '09 GSA

The larger guards look the part, how much were they from BMW please. Also noticed you are running with a Vario topbox, is that with GSA panniers or Varios? Just about to try this combination.

Matt at BMW North Oxford has the handguard extenders in stock, £26.17. I'll be picking up a pair early next week and let you know how I get on.......The price actually sounds reasonable for a change !

(I know they're only bits of plastic........but that doesnt seem to stop BMW.....)

The brake and clutch levers cause the finger tips to get cold.Cold metal you see!

I see your point, but up until 6weeks ago I was riding to London Bridge from Thame (62miles each way) and the majority of that I'm on the M40 - so not touching clutch or brake lever very often at all.

I'm sure its because of the airflow underneath catching the tips, as suggested - a similar spoiler on the bottom as the top ?

Ok - hand the extended hand guards fitted yesterday (thanks North Oxford !) and I'll let you know how I get on.........

You'll be back:augie

For a long distance winter commute I don't think anything will come close to a good set of muffs. Not only do they keep the wind blast off your hands they keep them dry as well.

Ventilated summer gloves all year with muffs and heated grips on low for the cold weather. You'll notice that the heated grips are much more effective when you aren't wearing insulated gloves.

I have thought about putting neoprene or rubber tubing over the levers so that I don't get that cold metal contact but haven't found it necessary so far. Then again my commute is shorter than yours.

PS Toucano Urbano muffs. very good!:thumb2
