Hi all,

I have just plotted a route from Bristol to the Hand hotel and I seem to have gone down the M4 a bit too much and I can see that the gps is going to do a u-turn and send me back.

I wanted to delete just the mistake I made without deleting the whole route. I have tried but am running out of time as I have to go to work soon.

Have you got any via points in the route? Why don't you just right-click on the route and recalculate it? :nenau

If you inserted waypoints to "force" the route onto a particular road (in your case the M4), you may have clicked on the wrong carriageway of a motorway - which would explain the doubling back. Easy mistake to make, if you haven't zoomed in enough to see both carriageways - just don't ask how I know. :D

Good advice above from Taff.

Another strategy you could use to quickly recreate the route (it's probably easier to start from scratch, than to try and patch up the screwed up route) would be as follows:

1) Create origin and destination waypoints, and then create a route betwen those two.

2) Switch over to the 'pointer' arrow in MapSource, and click on the route. Now drag the route line (in the middle) so that it follows the path you want it to.

It is generally easier to customize a route using the 'rubber banding' feature as described in point 2) above, rather than creating an intermediate waypoint and then inserting it into the route. When you rubber band a route, it seems to be more immune to winding up on the wrong side of a dual carriageway.

Thanks guys,

I will give it a go tomorrow before I leave. Everytime I tried to use the "rubber band" tool it kept taking its origin from the final destination.

Spose I was being lazy and looking for a quick fix.

It won't take to long to redo the route.

Were you clicking on the end of your route? If you want to "rubber band" a route, click on the route itself, not the "final destination".

Cracking day for a trip to Llangollen - pity I can't make it. :tears
