Just a note to relate my experience trying to fit the Denali B6 Brake Light to my October 2018 R1250 GS Rallye TE. I bought the lamp without the Denali Cansmart controller as the bumf said that it could be fitted without. There was a note in the instructions that advised that the running light should be wired via a separate feed such as the accessory socket so as not to upset the canbus of the bike. The stop light should be wired into the brake light wire and earth to earth.
So I wired the running lamp via a separate feed to the side light and it worked fine. However when I tried to connect the brake light wire to the stop lamp it immediately cut out the rear light and put up the huge fault warning on the dash that there was a fault with the stop lamp.
I hadn't wanted to buy the controller due to the cost but there seemed no other way to get the lamp to work. I rang "Denali shop UK" (who had supplied the light) for advice and got a very good deal on the older controller which was all I needed. There is a newer Gen 2 version but I didn't need the extra features that would give. Once the Cansmart controller was fitted it worked perfectly first time.
The default was set as running light 10% and Stop light at 100% with 4 flashes before remaining constant. I did hook up the software and that updated the firmware to the latest version but otherwise I left the set up as the default.
The service I got, along with the great deal, from George at Denali Shop UK was superb with delivery coming on both items the next day. Highly recommended. I was also very impressed with the quailty of the kit, which was expensive, but very well made.

Hope this is of use to others who might fancy the lamp. It is certainly bright and I feel much happier with the extra protection.

I have this light plus a set of front spots and using the CanSmart definitely makes this much easier as well as giving the flexibility of altering the light settings if you wish. As the OP notes though, not cheap if you need the CanSmart for just one installation!

Interested to know where you mounted the brake light and ran the cable. I'm guessing at the bottom of the number plate? I have the same unit plus front spots with a Hex ezcan but not fitted the brake light yet.

The brake light is indeed fitted to the bottom of the number plate, the cable runs up behind the plate in a groove in the number plate holder then under the rear of the bike and I have run it between the frame and luggage holder under the rear seat to the CanSmart using sticky cable grips. Looks quite neat I think.
