Denali D2 - dual intensity LED's to the WC.

As per this thread on the RT section. I saw some of these on a GS last week. They were great and smaller than the BMW ones without looking shite.

I have zero electrical knowledge but I would want them to be on all the time, and brighter when the main beam comes on.

So.....
I want them on my GS: -

1) Could I have them installed so that they are always on (low setting) and then when I flick the main beam they would go to the brighter setting?

2) Would BMW have to program anything in to get them to work like this?

3) Would I have to have that extra fog light button put on the handlebars or do you think it could be installed so they are as per the above?

1) yes, any competent tech can do it. (Edit: I assumed they have a "high" trigger wire. I'll should check)
2) I seriously doubt it.
3) not unless you wanted it. Being able to switch them off may be useful but it wouldn't have to be a BMW part.

Here's some blurb:

On a serious(er) note, I to have seen these and they are 'a bit of alright' aren't they.
What you ask for would seem on paper not to difficult to achieve, though I would say you would need Mr BMW to do some programming I'll bet. (assuming he would for after market lamps)
I've seen 'CAN Buster' wiring systems but they seem just to allow simple switch action.
Not much more help than my last post I'm afraid.

Hi people

I find the head lights on my R1200GS LC (2013 model) quite useless for night time driving. Would like to hear from those who have fitted these to the R1200GS LC, does it make a vast improvement on the standard LED BMW headlight system? If not what else is out there for me to consider?

Yeah dealer need to activate spots on the pooter, should do it foc tho if you have a friendly dealer or wait till you have it serviced and ask em to activate, that's what i always do with extras i buy and fit and have never had to pay for activation.

Hi you may need to adjust your beam height using the hand adjuster on the left back of the unit. mine was the same it seems from the factory they are set way too low. once you've set them I think you will find the LED beam to be brilliant

..my garage when it was dark. And using it at night to judge the best height vs blinding everyone in front of me. Very very easy to sort, have a play.

At night, stop at a distance from the back of a car, equivalent to your normal follow position when travelling in traffic. Adjust the light so that it doesn't shine above the point just below the bottom of the rear window. This gives you a good baseline to start from.
