Dent Weekend 31st May - 2nd June, 2024

He's not joking, you know!

Not sure if I can make it, Stu. :( I've a busy week next week and then off to Berlin to see Scotland humiliate Germany on the 6th. :augie

Fingers crossed, I'm not too knackered ...

I was hoping you'd show up on your new Himmy. If you don't make it, I'll be cheering along with you
against Germany, I think Scotland have a chance. You never know Pete, if Man Utd, can beat Man City
in a Wembley final anything can happen. :)

Put me down for this. Camping and a Guzzi. Happy to lead a ride out down some lesser known roads too - like the bits between the M6 near Shap if you are interested.

Great another Guzzisti. I think we'll all have to get our heads together in the pub on Friday and see who fancies going where. Like you I'm quite familiar with the area, it would be nice to show to our southern comrades how grim it really is 'ooop north. Flat cap, clogs, whippets and pigeons are optional accessories this weekend:D

thats' if all guzzi's get there for Friday...Fuze failure on Steves Stelvio a few years ago comes to mind...
That was a little embarrassing to say the least.
I'm headed down to a small settlement called Hobro (just outside Wolverley) today. Staying overnight at a mates then we're off to Bala for 3 nights. I shall then be heading up to Dent next Friday for 3 nights at the village stores. I think I shall be well over my beer ration this week.

Your opinions, please!

The bad news - because I need to bring a large item of 'mobility' equipment up to Yorkshire for my old Mum, it means I'll be in the car (the cage, man). Shame, I was looking forward to stretching the Guzzi's legs.

The better news maybe - it means I could bring a small travel BBQ, this wouldn't permit a gourmet meal to be prepared, but I would happily churn out cheeseburgers / hotdogs, and if chef du jour Don is around, they'll be properly cooked, too!

This would be on the Friday evening - Saturday I'm back in W Yorks helping Mum again.

So the question is, do I pack the bbq, coals, tools, paper plates, serviettes, ketchup, camp table etc? If enough people will be around the camp site on Friday night and keen for a snack I will bring the stuff, but if everyone's going to be in the pub I won't bother. The forecast shows dry weather on Friday.

I am packing tonight for an early departure tomorrow, so please speak now. Cheers, P

Oh yes...Ill bring a roll (s) of boerewors. Form an orderly queue and make sure the chefs gets left at least one piece of sausage. No school children asking "is it ready yet!". Ill bring my own pack up braai as well. There will be enough camping tables around on the awesome GS bikers to help out. FATAL - you're on salad duty, cos you like that...if someone wants to organise charcoal please, or collect some old dry oak ahead of time...I aim to arrive by about 6. Ill be setting my camp out before I start, and having a beer. So don't expect dinner at 7pm!!! Left overs will be / can be re heated in the morning. Be great if peeps could chip in otherwise it'll be costing Paul a chunk. If I know numbers who are up for this before friday morning, I'll get enough sausage...ps I'll have a cold cider lol Looking forward to this now. Oh and as for the route planning, after High Wycombe, I am only using 12 miles of the M1..no point owning a bike if you blast along the motorways...

Thanks Don!

Rough numbers would be good so I know how much to buy. Don't worry about cost, I will trade 1 hobgoblin / peroni / moretti / black sheep per burger 😅 Deal?.

Have a fantastic time everyone, I'm pretty sad that I'm going to miss this as I have many fond memories from previous Dent debacles :beerjug:
