Hi guys just bought an 1150 03 plate with only 28k on the clock , its running rough on idle as if its got a cylinder down, ive done the norm changed plugs , tbs /air filter etc still no joy ,the bike goes quite well in the high revs , so looked at the coil sticks when i pull the 3 pin cable off the left cylinder stick theres a change in engine revs so that one is ok i expect when i remove the right 3 pin on the stick no change at all so i swapped the sticks right to left and the one what was in the right now works in the left the what was in the left wont work in the right and now im at a loss any suggestions would be great please

Also i removed the secondry one underneath the cylinder still no change in engine revs still idle is rough

God knows just seems low on compression on the right cylinder the bike has been stood since bwt march just hoping its not a sticking valve
Both coil sticks working in left cylinder ok

Pull off BOTH lower secondary plug caps and see if the engine runs on both cylinders using just the main plugs. If it runs on one side only then swop over the main coil caps and see if the one cylinder running moves to the other side with the coil cap swop .

steptoe u genius swapped the coil leads and the fault swapped to the other cylinder , looks like coil pack under tank is fooooked

Nooooo, it's nothing to do with the coil under the tank...
It's the main coil sticks/plug caps. They have coils in the cap - about £90 each

Just google 1150 coil stick for clarity.

Whichever one you swapped to the other side subsequently causing that side to missfire is the culprit.

Whichever one i swap to the l/h cylinder they work but both not working in r/h cylinder

So for the moment lets keep the diagnosis process nice and simple.

..... swop the spark plugs over and see if the problem follows the spark plug.

Something he swapped moved the problem from one side to the other. So he's rattling it. If you tell us which part (on the diagram) you swapped, I think it will help.

Right swapped both coil sticks over , when u pull the connector on the stick u get a change in revs , they both do that on the left cylinder when on the right cylinder pull the plug no change on the right cylinder , also the spark on both sticks is good and they are new plugs iridiums and sparking like a good un , the plug in the right cylinder is quite black and a little wet where as the left is normal colour , the only thing i havent changed is the bottom plugs am trying get some today to eliminate them ,

Simply unplugging the connector to the main plugs to diagnose the problem is pointless with the bottom plugs still connected and causing confusion and making posting very time consuming... If the R/H main coil cap had failed and the engine has been running on just the lower plug it will cause the lower and main plug on that cylinder to get oily and sooty. Simply testing for a spark by having a plug out of the cylinder doesn't tell you the condition of the coil cap, a plug will spark very easily outside of a cylinder because there's no load, compression or heat.

im sorry for the confusing this is what ive just done pulled both ht leads off the bottom bike still runs soon as u pull the wire off the l/h stick it stalls , so swapped with the right pulled off the stick stalls on the l/h again but doesnt stall on the right even on bothe sticks are swpped
