Device cannot calculate a route, using Open Street Maps

Well, I think I’ve got to the bottom of it, on the 15th of March this year I posted in BASECAMP SOFTWARE about my painfull map upload and how I got round it by using Basecamp legacy version 4.2.5 well that’s what’s been on my laptop since.
Uninstall it and install the current version 4.7.5 (which had me over in March) and go through the process again and bobs your uncle and fanny,s your aunt, see pictures.
so this is doing everything through mapset on sd card. One thing I’ve noticed and can’t fathom is, if I drop the route into sd card the waypoints are not in the favourites, if I drop the route into the XT hard drive the waypoints are in the favourites which I like, is this how everyone thinks it works ?
As I have not broke it I am going to try and install the basecamp osm maps from the same site and see how that goes, please feel free to advise even on spellings as everyday is a school day. for reference I have not updated the XT. Many thanks for everyones time and patience, if only BT were as helpful, still not fully back to normal. Many thanks INBOCIMG_0344.jpegIMG_0345.jpeg

Just back in this evening. That looks like progress INBOC. With a bit of luck your unit will be able to calculate your routes. Better to get all of the bugs sorted now rather than at the side of the road in New Zealand (y)

Many thanks for your help sir, I will have a full session of route planning first on basecamp for the trip, then test out on XT in simulation mode, and report back , and currently it’s not broken. INBOC

HI
so i am now sorted to a level i am happy with, i am now using the downloaded map set on the sd card in the XT. i use this via the usb cable to use basecamp to plan all the routes as i would do normally. i then put the routes into the sd card on the xt. i disconnect the XT from the laptop. i go into indoor gps use. i then use a saved favourite in the XT to set a location and you need this for something else. i import a trip through trip planner. i then import the start of the trip by going to front page of XT and selecting where to, then use favourites to import the start of that particular route. ( if you don't have at least one saved favourite on XT when you start this process it wont see the ones on the sd card, you don't need one if routes directly imported into XT hard drive) i set the location to the imported favourite of the start of the route and then calculate and simulate the route to check it in indoor gps setting, and i haven't broken it yet.

so very pleased with the result and extremely happy with all the help i have been given (if only BT were as good 3 weeks in and still not fully sorted)
many thanks

we will do,
i am going to dip my toe into the waters of MRA as i have the use of a cosmetically damaged android phone, and i have seen some of your other posts about using this with no sim card as a navigational device on the motorcycle, i will see how that compares.
as always many thanks
