Different speedo drives for KmH clocks?

Just returned from a lovely trip to France - can thoroughly recommend a hotel in Vittel if anyone is interested.

The bike is an SPC ex-Germany importED 1150GS to which they fitted MPH clocks and gave me the original KmH. For some stupid reason the KmH scale on the UK speedo is not illuminated - no problem I'll just re-fit the original clock for the duration of the trip. A brief test ride, using my eTrax for comparison, revealed that the KmH clock was under-reading by as much as 10%. I have previously found the UK speedo to be about 3% optomistic.

Question: are there a different speedo drives for the KmH and MPH clocks?

TIA

Speedos

My 1150 was agerman import from SPc, they just changed the speedo all seems ok for the last 50.000 miles.

The reading on MPH clock fitted by SPC is within tolerance. I'm not questioning the MPH clock.

What I want to know is whether my KmH clock is faulty or if I need to fit a different gear to make it read correctly.

Why go to all the hassel of changing speedos?, if you really can't relate to kph
why not just stick some stickers on the dial of the speedo as per jap imports. I have done thousands of miles in kph country and never had a problem with an mph speedo, or by a gps.

OK to do this if importing to a EU country ....
If not you will need the equiv of an SVA test and the speedo has to have the correct ( mpg or kph) markings

The hassle is minimal.

The UK spec speedo shows both MPH and KmH and therefore does not need stickers, but only the MPH scale is illuminated.

The benefit of fitting the KmH clock is that the KMH scale is illuminated.

So, back to the original (simple) question: does anyone know if the speedo drive for the KmH clock is different from that for the MPH clock?

In hope. Richard

Speedos.

I only suggested stickers as these can be seen easier in the dark.

Apologies for any (unintended) offence caused by my earlier, terse, reply.

The problem is not seeing the KMH scale (in daylight), I have a UK spec Mph and KMH speedo for that. It is reading the KMH scale in the dark.
