Using me digital D70S over here in South America, the pics under travellers, some of you might note the blobs on the pics. Bugger. Had muck on me brand new D70S sensor behind mirror and cleaned off, blew, and gob landed on tried cleaning and made it worse. now need to do it proffessionally. Handbook says don´t clean :( too late :o now what do I do to try and remove marks present on sensor. Do I get some lense cleaner and try to remove them ? Don´t fancy photoshopping several hundred pics on return.
(PS I know how to access it, hence gob)
Looks like a half decent camera shop here in Belgrano (read the posts for more details on that name choice  ) that might have cleaner.
Can anyone advise. Serious request, what best to use alcohol (medical of course) ???
A seriously pissed off bunny am I. near 600 quid and the thing had crap in it to start with. Wish I´d taken me F70 instead now.
HELP
Posted here in hope someone will see it, or bring it to someone with good camera knowledge for comment.
No way I´ll get to a Nikon approved shop unless there is one in Medoza or somesuch will search
Your responces will be greatly appreciated. F*ck :(

argh

Cheers Mike just as well internet time is cheap here that was one long read  and I´m no happier now either. Really f*cked off with the Digi SLR. nikon have a service place ´bout 90kms max away, other three in Beunos Aires....maybe pay a visit....hmmmmm....what to do...pain in the arse. Now Bev´s compact never has a prob and takes very good shots. My posh jobbie started out with dust, and by sound of those reports it´s a common problem. Very annoying. Cheers for reply, off to ponder now :thumb

It's F**ked........take pictures of clouds....
Factory or recommended repair facility only.............

Fritz, you've most likely already sussed this but if you're taking it in personaly to get it fixed not only watch what they do but get them to give you some of whatever they use to sort it. Sounds like it's going to happen again with the conditions you're likely to face so best be preppared.

Keep having fun. :thumb

Grab some Ziplok bags while you're at it & keep your delicates protected/sealed.

get some for the camera too :) :thumb

I appreciate that this is 'after the hoss bolted', but for future reference I am mainly using these products intemos and can give them the big :thumb .

As I'm taking my D100 to some pretty grubby places I know only too well the probs with sensor marks; the amount of crap that the StikCap picks up is quite a revelation - even when you are taking good care to mimimise the innards to the open air.

Ralphy. That's a really useful link... the little video on "how to" is good. :thumb

Looks like I´ve got away with it  90 peso´s (18 quid) for a rinse out and return....if the body returns before we have to leave.

Two tips, don´t spit on your sensor, and don´t try clening it with lense cleaner as a last resort

Oh and third, think seriously about digital SLR´s for adventure travel, unless you´re very anal and take extreme care in use. Me I use ém, they shouldn´t be toys...put a bloody mechanical shutter in Nikon :spitfire

I´d be happy with me old F60 ion the drawer at home, perfect and faultless, but I do have to say I welcome not looking after slide film for 6 months. I´ll make a more objective decision in 5 months time I guess.

NOT urgent !

In case youmissed the title - this is NOT urgent, just updating!

So near 7 years later I'm updating this

Back in 2005 there wasn't too much in way of cleaning for the humble owner - there is now :clap

Bought thsi off eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200678111893?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 bit costly - but what price a ****ing annoying 'dot' appearing on all your pictures?

Anyway, it works, is easy enough to do, so don't be shy.

Mind - I think I may be pushing the dust around now :D
