Just seen the price of those tanks being discussed...Yes, a handmade Heinrich 7-gallon tank. I've got the original one, too. Note 40mm Dellortos, twin-spark, billet top yoke, blah blah.

And there you have it in one... For the work you've put into your CS resto it's worth every penny... These old buses are full of possible issues and trying to find one that has even been used a bit recently is a problem too and I am very suspicious of bikes lying around for years...My 50 p worth.
When you consider a barn find might be @ the £1500/2000 price
A running example £4K with who knows what issues.
One needs to be very carefull.
In the last month / 6 weeks I’ve had two rs bikes in for work.
One mentioned previously.
The other is currently on the lift.
This one needs extensive work, everywhere we look is seeing issues,I tried my very best to tell the customer not to go down the rabbit hole ( long story).
I told him from day one,it needed a full resto.
After days of back and forth he wants partial work on limited areas.
What he will end up with is a piece of crap that’s unreliable and will stand him at a lot of wasted money.
Why fix the forks when the electrical system is fucked.
Why fix the electrics when the gearbox is full of water.
Why fix the gearbox when the engine is pissing oil.
Why fix the engine when the carbs are full of rust and tank lining paint?.
I'm one down already... Good bike mate ney for a crusty looking version... Shiny paint and neglected hardware... Certainly not the first and I doubt it will be the last .Sensibly a 1984 twin shock RT
However for me I much prefer the heavy flywheel bikes but you need to do some mods to them.
Thanks for that... I'm possibly viewing a CS this weekend which is the same age as yours so not on my picos rally plan but hey ho... It's very easy to lose interest unless you pitch for a proper resto like your offerings... Mainly due to complete over expectations from sellers of the "sought after" classic... As you said, a lot of money pits around for proper money and not even the basic preventative maintenance to stop them being a rusty heap...May or may not be of interest to you,
I’ve just agreed to buy back a bike I restored a couple of years ago.
1977 R100s in white fitted with dellorto carbs.
From the photos it looks very good.
Had very little use since full resto so it will need a service and light recommission to make sure all is good.
Pm if you’re interested.

Cheers for that .. I'll keep any eye on it... Might be a "long haul" search from my early experience...Here you go ... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1546908205972623/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp:041f20de-5435-4e04-9b00-d8838386ba7f
And if you ask nicely, the DWM* might have a look at it for you?
Donnie Whisky Monster
Or this is cheaper and looks well cared for
