I have just acquired a 1991 R100 GS :) However it came with the unwanted optional extra 'The Permanently Glowing Charge Light!!!!'

After a lot chasing of wiggly amps and head scratching I opted for the fitting of a Electrex Solid State Regulator/Diode Board.

All fired up fine and battery showing 13.5v at 1500rpm.

However!!! I have now completely removed that optional extra and get No Charge Light what so ever. I believe this to be an anomaly with fitting the new unit.

1: Is there any way of wiring in the charge light so I get advanced warning of charging faults.
 
Am I reading that as you get no red light of doom when you turn on the ignition?

If so check your wiring as there is an earth wire change IIRC :thumb

With old system connected 'Light of Doom' illuminated. With new Solid State Board fitted No Light of Doom what so ever:nenau
 
every airhead should have one? thought the RT had a voltmeter? :P

Just ordered 4 batt condition lights for Gertie, Trike and R90s's and 2 x 12v ignition systems for the R90s's .......

Gives you an actual reading of your battery voltage, not just a 'in the range of' one. Good for noticing slow changes or gradual deteriorations

nomad bikers battery monitors are alot smaller and less obtrusive :thumb2 they also wont tell you that your battery is full when it has barely enough power to turn over like the cheaper ebay jobbies (when set on battery level mode)
Weve made a new model for the KTM range, they seem to have a high top end voltage, and this seems to be normal, running up to 14.6 to 14.8 volts on charge, which would put the normal unit into overcharge mode.
So the Overcharge mode is now set to 15 volts when it goes into flashing green mode.
The normal charge mode has been revised to be 12.8 volts up to 15 volts where the green led stays green on all the time.
Over this voltage it will flash green.
Im just waiting for confirmation this works ok on the bike from Jim.
stats:
under 10 volts very fast red flash
under 11 volts, above 10 volts med red flash
under 12 volts,above 11 volts slow red flash
above 12 volts below 12.8 solid amber
above 12.8 volts below 15 volts solid green
above 15 volts flashing green.
