I just took delivery of a 450w alternator kit for my GS. Unfortunately it didn't come with the mounts for the diode(my mistake...Doh!)
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the dimensions of the four bolts that mount the diode?

IIRC they are insulated rubber mounts with an M5 stud at each end.

Are the solid mounts a bad idea?

My R80RT had solid mounts, but my 100GS has isolastic rubber mounts. I guess the GS is expected to have a lot more shock treatment than the road bike.

Your call really, depending on how you use the bike.

I have found old rubber mounts breaking up which could be bad so if you use them, check them occasionally.

Bob.

Those solid mounts look like standard Aluminum standoffs in M5.

Does anyone have the height of the standoff portion?
