Disconnect linked brakes ?

Just acquired an R1150RT to join my GS in the garage.
Bought the RT as I need to do a lot of motorway mile munching this winter but can't get on with the linked brake system !
Does anyone know if it is possible to have the linked system 'removed' or 'disconnected' so that I can use the rear brake for U turns and scrubbing a bit of excess speed off mid- corner if necessary !

Help me understand this?

My R1150GS has servo assisted linked brakes. But the linking only happens when you grab a handful of front brake lever. It does not stop you dragging just the back brake while negotiating tight corners in town etc.

How does the RT differ?

not quite exactly

unfortunately the RT is not quite the same as the GS...apply pressure to the RT's "rear" brake pedal and it simultaneously operates the front brakes just as if you had hauled on the bar lever. Pull the bar lever and get exactly the same front and rear retardation. The system operates both brakes at the same time with no option. What the man wants to know is how to disable the linkage so that the bar lever and the foot pedal operate the front and rear brakes independently just like the GS.
And when you tell him, I'd like to know as well please....

Its designed that way because of the type of bike it is, its a big tourer and its intended to be ridden as such as a motorway mile muncher its excellent, my Blackbird has a similar system and I like it, it settles the bike down squarely applying the braking force evenly on both tyres, of course this assumes that your'e not braking in bends but if your'e riding it right you won't be will you.

The Servo brakes on the RT are excellent and you can indeed use the rear brake as a control for low speed manouvers without a problem, both brakes come on when the speed is such that its needed, you will have to modify your riding style to suit the bike.
