Dismounting - getting off

When coming to a stop I often find myself wondering whether I should put the side stand down before getting off the bike, or once off. Also, when swinging my leg over should it be straight or slightly bent?

Any advice would be appreciated.


Oh, and where on the bike do other riders put the triangular shaped sandwich container, with the second half of the sandwich still in it, if using the side stand?
 
Well I find if I drag both of my feet for 20ft before coming to stop, I can put both feet down at the same time, that way I don't have to put the stand down, it does make sleeping a little awkward but that is justified the next morning when I can keep both feet down whilst pulling away. :augie
 
Thanks to my phone being connected to my Autocom, I'm able to phone the wife if I'm outside home or the PA if I'm outside the office... They then rush out with the "dismounting block"... :augie

It's if I go as far as tesco that I'm screwed as there's no dismounting block for me... :blast

Then i just look pathetic stuck astride the bike (like most 1200 riders) until someone takes pity, takes my list, and goes and does the shopping for me... :D
 
I usually drop the bike, that's what the crash bars are for:D
 
I always carry a hot air balloon which I inflate using the exhaust gases.

This then lifts me off the bike.

If the engine is not running I use all the hot air generated by 1150 owners.

The filtering wedge technique for me.......

If my attempts at the impossible closing gap I went for recently are anything to praise I can vouch for the filter wedge.

Feet stay up, no problems. Also, if you do it alongside a curtain side lorry you can count the twangs the handlebars make on the strap latches, that way, as the frequency between twangs gets wider you know you have stopped. With experience you can work out speed relative to lorry effectively as well.

That even means you haven't got to look at the speedo to know you've stopped!

Getting off or just sitting there as I did is optional.

How I "get-off"' is an entirely personal matter - but if you have got any new ideas I am willing to learn :thumb
