A dodgy application I tried to install has altered my display properties. Before the virus scanner threw it on the ground it changed the wallpaper to a nasty yellow box telling me that spyware had been detected on my computer. Getting rid of it involved editing my startup programs to disable loading the executable that did the damage, deleting the .bmp file it was using then using REGEDIT to restore my wallpaper. The problem is that selecting the display properties no longer allows me to change the wallpaper or the screen saver. Where do I look to restore normal working please. If I create a new user account it works correctly. I'm running WIN2K/SP4 and am fully up to date with Microsoft updates.:monkeypiz

The link suggested sorted out my wallpaper but I now find I've lost the "Accounts" selection under "Tools" in Outlook Express. The "Kellys-Korner" link 378 for restoring accounts doesn't seem to work for me so I'm grateful for ant=y suggestions.

I've made the tweak from Kelly's Korner for OE accounts work but it took a fair amount of intuition and several invocations of REGEDIT to make it all go. Many thanks for the Kellys Korner link.

'Tis a wonderful thing, the way Windoze can get all screwed up! It sometimes just helps to view the scripts and see what changes they are making, then with a little nouse you can usually work out where the problem lies. Glad you got it sorted.
