Just as a matter of interest.

Those that Do It Yourself servicing.

How do you reset the service indicator (if the GS Adventure has one?)

I take mine into my dealers and they reset it for a charge of £18 plus a check sheet showing pad wear tyre tread condition etc
On the occasions I've had warranty work done they reset the service indicator free of charge.

The only service I've had done on my last 4 GSA was the first service, never had any issue with warranty either

My local dealer got £1,700 of work on my gsa and wouldn't reset the service as they hadn't changed the oil and filter, even though I'd bought the filter from them.

Guess I'm buying a bluetooth gs911.

Name and shame the dealer, as someone already said, they charge for resetting it. If that's how they treat you why would anyone buy a bike from them.?

If your gonna DIY a GS911 is a must, whether it's access to one or buy one :jager

I went for the gs 911 wifi,
its handy for bleeding the brakes properly for fluid change, plus other stuff,
My local dealers wont re set service reminder,

Regarding re setting the service reminder, And asking the dealer to re set reminder,
Many vehicles now have ESI in the instruments which is an electronic service record,
Would you be comforable with re setting it and being recorded as the last person to repair that vehicle and the potential liability that record could bring,
Bearing in mind the possibility of serious injury or worse on a motorcycle,,
Roamer,

I would agree, save they did outstanding warranty work, changed lots of bit's, changed fd/gearbox fluids, clutch/brake fluids etc.

I bought oil filter from dealer as I had 20L of 10w40 synthetic oil from Costco.

A major service was done along with pad/disc replacement and alternator belt.

It was annoying that " as we didn't change oil, we won't reset the service indicator."

Not sure what else was left to do !

Ok. Hmmm.

Anyone in West Midlands area got one of these I could pay a nominal cash fee to clear my service indicator?
Not saying someone won't do it for you but it costs a license/chassis number to reset the service reminder.

Your saving the cost of one in a couple of services and if something goes wrong you have no hope diagnosing the bike without it.

Last option just leave the reminder on. It doesn't stop the bike going.

Unless you discover someone with the professional version of course.
Personally ill be buying my own. It'll be very useful and they are always in demand secondhand so you would have no bother selling it if you moved away from bmw.

If you get someone to reset it for you ask them to set the next service at a very high mileage and the next service date at a good few years in the future. This way the service reminder light will not come on at every 6K or yearly.

Good idea. Cheers.
