Hi all,

I introduce myself, Xavier leaving in Luxembourg.
I have been riding in the past a Honda Transalp, a Bmw R1100R and currently riding a Buell XB12X Ulysses.

I have planned buying a new HP2 megamoto, yep.

I know it is a bike you buy with your heart and not with your head but...

I post this message to know if you think anyway it is a good idea to buy it by now, isn't it too late. It has been released 3 years ago and maybe it is not the bike to buy on the Bmw site anymore !!!

Just to ride on the road... I think never off-road...

Any comments or feelings about the HP2 megamoto are welcome of course !!! ;-)

Many thanks.
Cheers.

Tried sending you a PM but you can't accept them?

I know of a 2007 Megamoto with less than 500 miles / 800km for £9,995 if you're interested?

@Possu: I will keep you posted if interested but you can already send me the complete/detailed story of the bike on xfanuel@gmail.com ... thank you.

@Joe Bar: I know we can still by it... I am about to test it in Brussels... I was just wondering if buying a 3years-already-released model is worth the effort... and then not too late compared to the current and future market ???

Many thanks for the links I will go through of course :-)

Sorry, I misunderstood you're post.

Yes, it is definitely worth buying if it is the bike for you. Apart from offering ABS, the bike has not changed since launch, so is still current. The bike will always be a rare model in very low numbers. I have still not seen another one on the road, or parked up anywhere since they were launched. I have only seen a few in the dealers showrooms and at bike shows.

The dealer I bought mine from has only sold one - mine :) :)

The only two downsides of the bike for me, are the seat and the fuel tank range, both of which I can live with. The suspension takes a little bit of setting up initially, but the rest is great. :thumb2

@JoeBar: Yes I think it is the bike for me... :thumb2 but how to know definitely it is true ??? :augie Ok, still some questions regarding the pros & cons. Is the ABS a big advantage on the bike ? You mentionned the suspensions... but aren't they adjustable ? I can cope with the fuell tank, I don't plan riding in the Sahara then... but what about the seat ? Too narrow in the length, too hard, too soft... any possibility to change for a good one ?
Many thanks JoeBar... :roll

I don't have ABS on my bike, never had it on any other bike, so never missed it.

The suspension is adjustable, but is very much on the firm side when delivered from the factory, when riding hard over less than perfect roads, it can weave / wobble quite badly. I did think I might need a steering damper, but after spending time adjusting the suspension settings, it is now very good.

The tank range can be helped by drilling the filler neck, which helps squeeze another 20 miles / 30 kms or so out of a tank full.

The seat is definitely firm. But, I can manage about 300 miles in a day without problem. I also have an Airhawk cushion, with that I have managed over 600 miles in a day.

The Isotta / Wunderlich screen is a great addition, really helps high speed cruising and reduces fatigue. It's good quality, fits well and suits the bike.

Hope this helps.

Same for me, never had any ABS... didn't miss it at all ;)

Would you have the product code of the Isotta & Wunderlich screens ? I also read about a Jesse screen... do you have also such a reference ?

Hope this helps.
Oh yes it helps, of course ...
Apart the screen, the Airhawk cushion, and touching in some way to the tank... do we need something else on the bike ?
Thank you JoeBar :clap

The Wunderlich screen is made by Isotta, it's the same.

@JoeBar, you seem to be THE man of the situation :cool For any question, I think I am going to contact you... :beerjug: because when I have my HP2... (seems to be on good track)... I will need to add all this kind of stuff on the bike of course... hand guards, engine protectors and the heated grips... but I will need some help to make the good choice... it is a pity for the 2 tons of the guards... not very nice... to me... cheers :bounce1

Hi sensitive,
I have ordered my MM when I knew ABS was available. It's the first time I have it.
In our regions (Liege or LUX), roads are more often wet than dry
I've also the factory heated grips & Isotta windscreen.
The handguards of the GS1200 (2004-2007) and Touratech extension.
I've added the support & topcase of the GS too.
Finally, added the GPS Touratech support for the ZUMO 550.
To protect the Ohlins damper and to hide the uggly yellow color, added a Carbon rear
mudguard and neopren socket also.

Well, coming from a panzer GS1150, I can say that I've found a light & powerfull bike now.
I'm really happy not to have bought a too common GS ;)
Concerning the seat, the tank range obliges you to stop after 220 km to refill, so you can relax every 2 hours :D

I'm waiting for the underseat tank from Markus to add 7,5l so that I will be compliant with the range of the R1200GS of my friends :thumb

Perhaps that the future MM model will be with the HP2S engine ??

Hi sensitive,
Perhaps that the future MM model will be with the HP2S engine ??
@GSMarc, Wouaahhhh... good information all of this.... many thanks. :P
I will subscribe to the forum 'jemelapetenflat' altough I do not appreciate the title... :mmmm
Do you have valuable links on the net regarding the HP2, french or english, forum or not,... ? :augie
And what do you mean with the quoted text ? I do not understand very well in fact. Which model, which HP2 engine ?
Bye for now :)

Thank you for the reply, will be easier in french :D

I just saw somewhere that perhaps the R1200RT 2010 will be fit with the 133Hp engine of the HP2S. This to spread the cost of engine engeneering on a more wide range of bikes.

I imagine that the MM will not support to be less "engine performant" than the new RT...:nenau

But it's only rumors for now :blagblah
