Just had front tyre replaced badly worn and leaking air. Garage replaced tyre but not valve. Big surprise - tyre still leaking air. To their credit, when I took it back they replaced the valve with no charge.
Saw some valves with bulgy sides on a GS here , scarey. I think there were some ropey ones around. However, it makes sense to change them with the tyres as a precaution, imho.
In situations like that, would simply replacing the valve mean it would be likely to reoccur swiftly due to the actual corrosion on the wheel? If so, would using something like emery paper to remove the corrosion be wise before replacing the valve.
As I don't replace my own tyres, should I reasonably expect a tyre place to watch out for this?
