Doc’s French holiday 2023

Again thanks lads. Lots of info so far.
Think I need to go for a few months. ;)

Mr W's linked routes cover the good ground. Gorge du Tarn is worth a visit, Florac is a nice wee town. The small roads between there and Racamadour give a great run.

I can't post a route because I was using paper maps

I'm heading there this year.

As Doc will discover and many others know, it’s a great area for a motorcycle or just cruising about on a bicycle, in a car or in a motorhome. I can recommend the Michelin Green Guide to the region, as it details lots of the things to see and do.

It’s going to be epic.

For those that want to join in, I think Doc’s ferry arrives in Holland.

Starting from Holland? We are planning 9 days from Rotterdam in September. This is the route, can send the files if interested but see there is already a lot on this thread.

Thanks that looks good. And yes starting from Rotterdam. Just looking for our first stopover. Troyes area.

The Green Guide is a great idea for Doc to buy!

Rotterdam which is about 20km from Hook of Holland if your coming on that ferry. Advantage is you get off earlier. Then for us its clock wise round so Rotterdam to a bit north of Troyes and east of Riems. 400 km with the first big bit on the motorways. Will send you the routes we have. Not sure how to upload the files here and the accommodation. We went for Logis hotels upon some good advice given here last year

I will buy it. Amazon ?

Or any half decent bookshop might have it in stock or will order it.

The guides are really good, giving a potted history of the region and its geography. More importantly, they give snapshots of things to see and do, along with suggestions on routes to maybe join some of them up for a day out or complete holiday.

They link well with Michelin’s maps, too. Any town on the map with a green rectangle around it, will also appear as an item in the Green Guide.

You should be creating it in your new MyRoute account, Grant and sharing it by embedding it :thumb2 It’ll be good practice :D

Shift it as a GPX route from BaseCamp into MyRoute, using MyRoute’s very good upload abilities.

I know, I know...will give it a bash this afternoon. :beerjug:. Sent them to Doc already and am happy to share the lodgings and routes if anyone is interested

How's about this Richard?
in order of days riding. Does this work?

Thank you.

Now put them in as points in your MyRoute routes.

I save hotels (and other points) in MyRoutes’ Favourites. It makes finding them easier, in a year or two’s time, should you want to stay there again and use the hotel in a different route. At some point, I’ll have to move all my hundreds of favourites across from BaseCamp. Yiu can also do all sorts of other things within the Favourite itself.

By happy coincidence, I have stayed at the Tulipier hotel. I have also tried to book the hotel in the Morvan / Quarre les Tombes, but it’s always been full.

A good thread this, showing how holiday plans can evolve and come together in cooperation.

Never really looked at Logis hotels before. Plenty to choose from at a reasonable price.
