Cochem it self has got more Italin restaurants then I could count of one hand. If not careful, one could skip through the place in 20 seconds and not ever realise one was in it. Just mind your head when skipping under that bloody great bridge.

I noticed that when booking hotels in Kempten and just across the border in Bregenz.

It has an Italian restaurant and next door is a traditional German Shisha Bar. Seems to be 3 other Italians and an Indian across the river in Bernkastel.

It’s funny but on the Stelvio pass ( Italy ) there are loads of German sausage sellers!!
but the road signs there are bi-lingual as it used to be part of the Prussian Empire until 1918 and there are many speakers of Germanic tongues in the SudTirol
there again, Trier was the one of the main centres of the Holy Roman Empire under Constantine I & II. Not sure there are many Latin speakers left.
