No point breaking with tradition so I'll start my report early

Going up to Manchester Airport Wednesday as we have an early flight out to cologne Thursday for 3 days.

Been busy planning the itinerary which is.
A talk on the Cologne sewage systems from 1845 to the present day which includes a slide show and free tea & biscuits.
A Lederhosen fashion show with local makers on site for purchases
A guided tour of Cologne cathedral. Refreshments extra.
History of Eau De Cologne which originated in Cologne in 1709
A tour of the Lindt chocolate museum
A talk and tour of the famous Cologne Red light district with free condoms ( extras to be paid for and credit cards excepted )
Also I will be doing a Wapping style wonder with pictures and brief descriptions.

So as you can see a very busy few days.

Make sure the bloke doing the talk and handing round the biscuits has washed his hands.

If you get chance pop into Papa Joe's Beirsalon for a glass of Kolch and put a Euro in the juke box, it's worth it for the novelty. Just make a note of how many beers you have, they don't mark the beer mat.

It's not far to walk from the Dom.

That's the name of my lads bar:beerjug:
One of the few places in the UK who sell it. (Apologies for the thread hijack)

Nice one. 10 minutes from my hotel.
Kolsch is a great pint you won't be disappointed. :beerjug:

That's unless you get distracted by the rosé.:101:blast

What ever you sup,...Prost:beerjug:

No I'll definitely give it a go.
Cheers

I was in Cologne last month getting dragged around the Christmas markets by the good wife and another couple we went with. Kolsch is a decent brew and a bit stronger than some of the other beers, my mate and I drank a fair few litres of the stuff during our stay. There's not much left of the 'old town' 90% of it was destroyed by the RAF, best not mention the war.

“Kolsch is a great pint you won't be disappointed.“

You’ll cause a riot trying to drink Kölsch by the pint! It is served in a 200ml glass to ensure it stays fresh for you to drink. The head on top of the drink is very important to a German. If it has no head, they will refuse to drink it.

Btw, if you finish your glass of Kolsch and leave the empty glass in front of you, the waiter will automatically assume you want another and replace it with a fresh glass. If/when you have had enough, you must put a drink mat on top of the empty glass

German drinking etiquette. Like it.

When I was in Cologne, the Kolsch was actually served in 0.2L glasses. My initial response was wtf?!, but it actually works pretty good and forms the perfect head.
After a few days there I was smitten and bought a box of the little fuckers. I normally drink German beer out of them back home still. Slightly gay, but trust me!! lol
Where’s your son’s bar?
Wigan??
