Doc & the boss do Spainat the end of August.
Just imagine if we had waterways cross crossing the country which could be used for transporting bulky goods…One busy river this with the cargo barges. Near enough constant.
Look forward to that!Doc & the boss do Spainat the end of August.
Don't know why but I'm not feeling it at the moment.Look forward to that!

You need to get back to work for a bit. So you appreciate the next tripD

All booked and planned pal. We prefer to have places booked instead of pissing about on the day looking for somewhere to stay.Is it all booked and pland or are you winging it Doc;
Maybe. I thought of canceling at one point. You need to get back to work for a bit. So you appreciate the next trip![]()
Nooooooo.Maybe. I thought of canceling at one point.
That description of yours….I’m not feeling it either… somehow Spain just doesn’t cut it for me, good (empty) roads and scenery, cheap coffee and beer, rest of it, less attractive. Food is a like playing Russian Roulette for me, been to Spain twice, had same outcome.Nooooooo.
You know it makes sense to do Spain.
Tapas, Pintxos, vino tinto.
And some fantastic roads.
What’s not to like?
We are off for a short jaunt around the Picos in a couple of weeks.
Yes, it would, but we don’t. There are still a lot of trucks on the roads in Germany, despite having a huge network of rivers/canals.Just imagine if we had waterways cross crossing the country which could be used for transporting bulky goods…

The heavies don't run at the weekend if i remember correctly; or that could be from Saturday noon till Monday.Brew stop. So far weather is good and no trucks on the roads.
Steady away today as no rush.
@King Rat will be happy a steady 60mph = fuel savings.

Woosh…Yes, it would, but we don’t. There are still a lot of trucks on the roads in Germany, despite having a huge network of rivers/canals.
I believe that some of the wood pellets for making electric are delivered to Drax by canal barge. One would think that some of the less time critical deliveries could be made by barge.Woosh…
???Woosh…
Ever heard of canals?
I knew that's what you were implying. That's why I wrote what I wrote in response. The scale of canals in this country (even if they were in use) is nothing on the scale of Germany for example. Using canals in the UK to transport goods to the scale required is merely a delusional pipe dream.Ever heard of canals?
I was being ironic.
We used to have a dense network of local and national canals and railways which were the answer to a problem that hadn’t yet arisen, namely efficient and environmentally appropriate mass transport of people and goods. They have systematically been destroyed in the drive to ‘modernise’.
Some places are finally noting that the trams and trains of yesteryear are a good thing… perhaps the canal system will be next?
