Doc does London 2025 ( or wants to 🤔 ) - Thursday 13th March - A date for your diary

I’ll second that one Doc!!
Can recommend a good place up Brick Lane which is quite easy to get to, food is good and a few of the London Tossers have been there.

Could I put a request in for beers & a curry Thursday night.
You sure can Chris no one can stop you. (@grantmac just seen your reply above) Grant does know a good place on Brick Lane, which is his regular. Could make as part of a regular South East get together, if date/time does work well for the regular attendees.

More than happy to set something up if required. The Standard Balti House. Brick Lane 👍👍👍
Thursday 13 March 1800 and then beers after at a venue of choosing.
I’ll bow to others better knowledge of City pubs in the area.

quick screen shot from Google.

oh bollocks,,,,you're right.....edited with those that already said they would be there..... :beerjug: :beerjug: :beerjug:

For the Friday and Saturday - let the tour suggestions begin......

Presume Richard & maybe Steptoe 🤔

This should be funny. would love to be a fly on the walls of the tube network. A lad from deep Yorkshire village navigating the tube network :ROFLMAO:

Oy !!

As a Yorkshireman, I can tell you that one of the joys of visiting London, is just how easy it is to get around compared to doing the same in the frozen North. The tube network is brilliant, a 5 minute familiarisation with the way that the maps work and you're off. There's even the TFL app which is a doddle to use. Ping in/Ping out. Trains come along every few minutes, you never actually 'miss' one. It's all so bloody cheap n'all. I don't know of any other public transport system that works so well, there is certainly nothing like it up here.

He'll pick it up in minutes - He'll be fine....:beerjug:

I´ll wait for their confirmations but I thought Richard said he was busy and I cant recall anything from Steptoe for the 13th.
We still have plenty of time.....

Thursday curry, I’d suggest Zaffrani in Islington, one stop from Kings Cross (where you are staying) on the Northern Line to Angel, then a short walk.

Well I'll be with Neil so shouldn't be a problem getting to Grant's suggestion.
Otherwise I'll go with what everyone wants to do. Plus we might be out earlier so we could have a few beers before meeting everyone.

Doesn't look complicated to me.:LOL:Screenshot_20250103_232544_TfL Go.jpg

OK. Brick Lane it is.

It’s six of one and half a dozen of the other to me.

There are no good pubs in Brick Lane, as such. It’s either a walk up to the Bethnal Green Road or across to Spitalfields or down to Aldgate. My suggestion might be to walk down Brick Lane, then go to the Hoop & Grapes, half way between Aldgate East and Aldgate. That’s convenient for you getting a tube back to Kings Cross too, about 20 minutes.

I’m easy. Whatever everyone prefers, I’ll tag along
If it is to be Brick Lane and we have an idea on numbers I can have a word with the owner about my usual discount. At least there wont be the usual London Service charge…. (y) (y)(y)

A couple of other ideas for those organising / visiting:

Agree Wappers point about pubs. I am not familiar with them in the City area. There a few around but will be busy. The Grapeshots in Artillery Passage is an option but its small so not sure how easy to fit say 10 hairy arsed Tossers in on a Thursday evening.

Worse case we could share a cab and hoof it back to Wappers’ local which I am sure would be happy to accommodate us.

Leave it to Wappers and others to advise / decide…..I’ve had my 5 cents worth……👍👍👍

Sounds good to me. Just details for Fri & Sat to sort out.
All my trains are booked now so im all sorted and due to the trip costing hundreds my budget is £20 quid per day.
I will be bringing a coolbox full of butties to save on costs.

Ps. I need to go to Harrods for our lasses present. A carrier bag but one of those for life ones though just to show i care. unless one of you lads has one kicking about.

Could I put a request in for beers & a curry Thursday night.

Soho , Bradley’s Spanish bar, then The Three chairman, then across the road to Gopals for a curry https://gopalsofsoho.uk/menu/. Then to the Blue post to see Jake Vegas and his band, then to the Pink Chihuahua, then on to Gerry’s club, all within 5 minutes walk … I remember we’ve had a GSer night in the three chairmen and Gopals then on to Trisha’s
Couple of pictures :D
