Doc does Spain with our lass

Some of the paradors look great places to stay, must start using them. I’m assuming they’re best booked directly?

I’ll trawl through this report from the start for all the recommended ones
Sign up as an ‘Amigo’ on the parador website and book with them direct. Free beer/drink on arrival…

If you book one hotel night through Brittany Ferry’s you’ll get a discount on your ferry, which will probably cover the cost of a nights hotel.

There are a mix of buildings in the Parador stable, some beautiful old monasteries and such, and some more modern.

Leon and Lerma both have nice Paradors, there are many to choose from and prices are reasonable.

Our recent 4 wheel trip was 5 different Paradors.

Oh sorry Wessie.
Bargain loving Brits with Doc.

quite a schlep from there up to the main plaza

I'm sure someone will be along presently to berate your choice. I do much the same thing, alternate grand places with the more modest

Nice!

There are so many decent food places. I prefer a ‘menu of the day’ when we’re abroad - smaller menus usually mean the chef is focused on doing one or two things well…

We had dinner at this place, interesting courtyard to dine and have a drink in.

For some reason the one way system in Lerma is all a bit wrong… and the locals seem to ignore it anyway.

Pop in to the Parador for a coffee, it’s got a fantastic big lounge area, like an indoor courtyard.

Set menu at our digs.
Starter & mains plus bread & large glass of wine. €22 Euro
I had black pudding & Hake
Jayne Russian salad with Langoustine & roast chicken
Pudding extra.

It's a lovely place for sure. I'm not sure if Martin suggested it for us. Probably did i can't remember. Not disappointed with where we are. We are stopping at another Parador either next or the one after.

And Doc's today's travel tip.
If you like a brew first thing in a morning this collapsible kettle has been a godsend.
