I know its 15 miles from Potes but the road up is superb and on a Dinner bed and breakfast rate its is surprisingly good value

But you have to pass the much loved and much vaunted Hotel Del’Oso on the way

Yes i get that and Potes is good at night but again for me these days i am only passing through potes one night each way and the thought of not having to trek about for a good meal suits me as usually by the time i get there after the day i have had i am knackered and ready for bed

Yep
Fuenté De and Del’Oso are great for a romantic couples break
Potes is a great option for mooching in the daytime or evenings with the lads

If you are only passing through for a night or 2 there are lots of hotels in the area. everyone has their favourite
Infantado is a great hotel. Clean, good breakfast and for our needs, has a swimming pool
1 mile each way to Potes centre, stopped at a couple of bars on the walk
The petrol station is 500 meters up the road
And when we were there, the only overrun of bikers were us and another group
Looked at the Del'Oso and the Parador.....didn't want to be stuck up a mountain for a week as nice as the place looked

Probably cause I’m quite straightforward (read simple) I hate too many choices - just overwhelms my brain. I normally just use Tony at EurobikeTrans and ship bike from Manchester to Barcelona……..then jump on EasyJet to collect. My favourite place in Spain is actually Majorca (and there’s direct cheap ferry from Barcelona) It has wide variety of riding terrains and compact enough to avoid dilemmas.

Popular with motorcyclists......ate out in Potes each evening. No trouble getting food around 7pm

They don't put their prices etc out until March. I emailed and got booked in before they closed for winter

If so i cant think of anywhere worse and often comment as such as we ride by to the petrol station

Agreed . But it’s biker friendly which is important to some who are hard of thinking .

EVskij is right about one thing . Doc would be better to stay in Potes rather than the Del OSO ( caps to avoid bloody emoji).

We could stay there a week. Bloody love the place but Doc won’t as he’ll get bored as he can’t wonder from pub to pub .

But knowing Doc he’ll be back in the hotel by lunchtime ….

I recommended to him one of my favourite hotels in Cancale in Brittany but he said it was shit ….like I said , we all like different things .

There’s plenty of info on here without a thirty page thread which will only confuse Doc and then he’ll ignore most of the advice anyway ….

Have also stayed here & agree, it's great & has the lift up to the mountains behind (discount for residents) if you want to go for a hike. However based on Docs requirements , Potes is the place for him and his wife. We stayed in Potes two nights & it's a lovely place, lots of cafe's, restaurants, bars & shops. Pop into Google Street View for a look around.
